How To Remove Vct From Inlet Cam Gear? -rb25det

hey, im tryin to take off both my cam gears on my rb25det. I got the exhaust side off no worrys, then i took of the cover plate to the vct with the 4 screws, then i tryed to undo the big bolt in the middle by wedgeing some wood between the 2 geras, but it strill wont budge??? This bolt isnt a left handed thread or anything is it???

grab a mate and an adjustable spanner and iirc a 19mm deep socket with a large breaker.

you will need to wedge the adjustable spanner on the cam on the hexagonal bit near the nose of the cam and clamp it down, i use a short length of pipe to give more leverage to hold the cam.

then with your mate and all, have him/her hold the cam inplace with the cheater bar while you crack the cam gear bolt off.

if you have an impact wrench then its an easy job, but else you end up doing what i said.

so i can drill into the VCT oil gallery behind the intake camgear. -Im building a rb30det. B) -kinda working things out as i go tho...
