Hey,

I got my air con regased 4 weeks ago at Razz's auto electrical and Just wondering if anyone can help me, my compressor shat itself and I've taken it back to Razz's auto electrical and they've told me I need a new compressor and they said they'd call there supplier and get back to me regarding it..This was a couple of weeks ago. I called them regarding it and the supplier said they don't have any and have to try and match it up with another type and they still can't give me a ruff price guide on a compressor or labour or anything on a new one. They told me not to go for a second hand as there is no way of testing it until it is installed in the car.

I then tried Adelaide Import Plus and they don't have any in second hand either (they said that they had tested them to show they are working) They also asked wether the people that regased it used the right sort of gas or something as this can lock up the compressor. They said they might be getting some in in a couple of weeks and might be around $295 for the second hand compressor.

Can anyone reccommend a place to go or call to try and get a ruff price guide or an actual compressor for my car? Or better yet does anyone know?

Razz'z auto electrical gave me a price guide of $650 to $1800 for a new one cos they didn't know and its a hell of a difference and I just want to know what I'm in for..

Any help would be appreciated! I've been on the internet and other car sites and can't find what I'm looking for. Oh and I'm in Adelaide

Elle,

To get the price of a new one ring either Unley Nissan or Main north nissan they have microfiche of every part you can get on r32, r33 and r34 skylines. This is the best way to get a compressor that you will know that will definetley work.

Hope this helps

$1500 ex Japan

I had your same dilemma over the 40deg days around new years.

Most of these auto/light-aircraft compressors are the same, its just the brackets that are different.

Expect to pay over $1000. You may be able to get a good workshop to order one in and swap the brackets over. (ask them to look for the compressor model on the compressor itsself and then ring Bosh or whoever to order a replacement - Nissan didnt make their own compressors, they outsource them and add a bracket)

I would avoide second hand as they tend to be less reliable once they have dried out and been without pressure for a length of time.

Hope this helps.

i figure that $1500 is pretty cheap, it is going to cost me $2200 for a brand new

airconditioner for a daihatsu charade. I would go brand new with this type of thing a 4 door said. you could go second hand, but you get no guarantee and it might only last six months and you could be looking for another one. It might cost you less in the long run to go brand new.

Just my 2 c
