hi all i have been having a problem with my skyline for a while now and i think i have it done to the airflow meter or ecu

does anyone have any past experiance with a blown airflow meter or ecu, what are the simptoms of this problem.

mine is missing a bit and blowing abit of light grey smoke on idle and if you Push the accelerator in quick it blow a a far bit and sounds like its running 2 rich. have cheaked watertemp sensor and replaced it with one i know that works, tested thermo time switch. Is working and that the cold start valve is not stuck open. Cheaked air regulator that no air can get through after warm up.

please anyone with any experiance with the l24e, has any airflow meters or ecus please contact me on here, email [email protected] or mobile 0431103293

Cheers guys

Normally when the car is running too rich, the exhaust smoke is a black or dark brown colour. Light grey smoke? That sounds a bit like water vapour. Are you sure that you don't have a blown head gasket?

ey buddy,

i got the same problem, runs rich on idle, and fuel smoke come out when i start it up and when i giv it a lil bit before temop gauge shows warm, and a lil less when its warm. I spoke to a few guys at CNV in caringbah and they say its the AFM. So im going to giv that s shot. only thing is where can i get my hands on one for a decent price? and whats the model of it?

any help from anyone would be much appreciated as im new to the skyline world!!

:laugh:

it's dose sound abit like a blown head gasket so to test that is really simple all you need to do is pull all the spark plugs out and try to start the car if the head gasket is gone you will get a jet of coolant shoot out of the plug holes.

let me know what happens

That's conditional that it's blown across a cooling hole, but if it has blown across an oil gallery, you would get a very different result.

Has anyone thought of using a compression gauge to get a more accurate result? or maybe do test to see if the exhaust gases are in the radiator. Any mechanic has the gear, they put a dye in a canister and hold it over the radiator and it changes colour with the gases mixing and reacting with the dye.

Cheers, D
