RedEmblem
Hello, Was wondering what are some nice shock absorbers for a 33 gtst. My current have had it. I don't want to spend too much so coil overs arent an option. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/104023-nice-shocks-for-33-gtst/ Share on other sites
predator
you'd want leaf springs.. but seriously.. kybs, konis.. or if you have some money - bilsteins. When I bought new shocks, the Bilsteins were actually marginally cheaper than Konis. Fly_With_Sky
do you have aftermarket springs on the car? Because i was wondering shouldn't you buy shocks that are suited to those springs. If you still have standard srpings then kyb's or go check out the group buy sydney_kid organised. Now my previous paragraph brings me to ask a question. Some bloke my friend knows was changing his front shocks as they were worn out (car is r33 i think) to a set of shocks that suited the lowered springs he had on there. I thought this was a bad idea as the the front and rear shocks are different. Is this a bad thing? I thought it was as it would control the car differently so promptly told my friend he should tell his mate to change the rear shocks as well as they are most likely stuffed also. predator
I had standard springs with the Bilsteins for a couple of months. Felt fine, and the firmer shocks gave a large difference on their own... Sure, when I got around to putting them in, the Whiteline springs gave a bit firmer ride during cornering, but to be honest there wasn't as much difference as I would have thought. As long as your stock springs are still in reasonable condition, its an option for a while. Fly_With_Sky
so it is fine to run say bilsteins shocks at the front with say standard springs, and, at the rear have standard springs with standard shocks... I just thought the the different shocks would control the car differently which would not be good. But i am most likely wrong as suspension knowledge isnt a strong attribute for me. blind_elk
No. Bilsteins at both ends. But you can continue to use stock springs (at both ends). Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/104023-nice-shocks-for-33-gtst/#findComment-1916435 Share on other sites
Xizor
Do shocks have a bigger impact on the ride smoothness? ie i am after a smoother sort of ride as will frequent bumpy roads. My R33 currently has stock suspension/springs. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/104023-nice-shocks-for-33-gtst/#findComment-1916572 Share on other sites
