Archie@
If and it's a fairly large if.... the car is up to scratch and preped in the next few months, i'll be looking at entering into the Dutton Rally NSW section. Just wanted to know if anyone else has entered before or will be going this year, any pearls of wisdom you might hold regarding the event, i'd be happy to hear. Any and all advice is welcome. nfi
Im interested too. How much is the event p/p and when? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/104092-dutton-rally/#findComment-1914801 Share on other sites
Archie@
The NSW leg of the event is on 2-4 June, so there is a bit of time still... here is the link to the site I actually remeber reading about it in speed magazine a last year. Since targa tassie is very expensive (not to mention far away), and the east coast targa is no more.... this might be the best bet for most of us. nfi
I just went through the website. I am very interested. Can anyone who has done the event comment on what it is like? Snowman
Duncan, Kel and Fatz have done NSW. So has giant last year. And Simmo of course - but he cheats. Me and Scotsman have done the past 2 Vic Duttons. They are great on the condition you remember to have fun. fatz is the best person for advice on how to do this. If you start taking it too seriously you'll lose the fun factor. But if you are going to do it make sure you get out to a skidpan or motokhana day and learn how to use your handbrake - it's essential for this event. There are more "tricky" events than speed events which is why its not the best event for a skyline. Its also way more fun if you can enter as a team. It is a very team orientated event. But you can be sure the co-driver will be faster! lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/104092-dutton-rally/#findComment-1914962 Share on other sites
Links
Funny you guys should post this - I was actually looking at it the other day - would love to do it - however I don't think I wanna be punting my current car around it.. From what I gather you can have a driver/co-driver - both of you compete - one at a time in the car against each other.. $3000 for a driver team isn't too bad.. (off the top of my head).. would love to pick up an R32 gts-t and enter in it.. Anyone need a co-drive lol.. Links
out of interest - how hard do you guys end up pushing the cars.. did you have much wear and tear - or is it all dependant on how hard you push it.. i've seen the footage of Fatz having fun in the motorkhana section.. fatz
yup is all about boozing and burnouts the racing and all that crap comes second it is a massive porka love fest so get used to being in the shadows and watch out for camp 911 blokes trying to start fights at night time lol i had a ball but i must say for the price i would save the extr 1.5k each and enter targa and really try and hurt yourself pete Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/104092-dutton-rally/#findComment-1915176 Share on other sites

Duncan
For some reason Pete they never chased up our entry last year asking where we were? wierd. Anyway.....give it a go! Its pretty cheap for what it is, from memory about 2500 entry 1500 for good r tyres and 500 for booze. And you don't need something special to go OK, we came 10th first year in a pretty standard gtst...beat all those nasty GTRs home Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/104092-dutton-rally/#findComment-1916436 Share on other sites

Snowman
And it's worth entering just for the jackets. lol Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/104092-dutton-rally/#findComment-1920669 Share on other sites
Roy
You see, thats the tragic truth. I see it as great fun, but not very good value for money..but then again you get the jackets! Snowman
Hey the Calder Rally masters is coming up in March. Thats 2 days but all at the same venue (so no time wasted in travelling) so will probably have close to the same number and style of events at the Dutton - but its $350 compared to $1800. So you are right in the value thing Roy - but Im sure we won't get the jackets or the toska bags with the Calder thing.
