you should move to melbourne. Over here the import drivers seem to have something to prove against totally harmless commodore and R31 drivers.

My mates have VN's and VL's as their daily drivers, and usually on a night out when its their turn to drive they take these cars. Having known em for ages and being in the cars with them, I can totally vouch that they aren't hoons or in the leasst try to irritate other drivers. Yet time and time again, kids that drive R33 GTSt's and more recently 15 year old silvias and R32's seem to have to prove their superiority on their road. This includes accelerating to let off the BOV in bumper to bumper 40km/h traffic, taking off at traffic lights and the "fully hektic stare" as the car full of 17 and 18 year olds drive by.

very true that, seems the same all around Oz i reckon, bov's make em think they are unbeatable, but they just sound like total knobs when they let it pshht pshht every 2 seconds in their stock r32 gts-t or silvia.

i dont think its just 'the swich' that has the problem cos i've also been cruising at the gold and sunshine coasts and in newcastle (my mate in commo) and the problem exists there. eg. at the broadwater carpark at the goldie the only ones to do burnouts are the commo drivers.

also anyone who has been to a racetrack knows that it isnt only people from the town that go but drivers from a large catchment area. the dickhead driver of the commodore, although possible, was more than likely not from ipswich.

rezz i read that thread bout the commos in the drift events . bolger is a deadset f#*kwit. like i said, anyone who has met the fag will know what i mean.

if you're ever in the area, come to 'the swich' and see what i mean. there is an unusualy high concentration of f#*kwits in commos. just watch out for being arse raped by a bogan in a commonwhore (sorry r32skyline_89)

what intrigues me is why so many dickheads seem to drive commodores and so many commodores seem to have dickheads behind the wheel!

Why do you find it intriguing?

Commodores have been in production and sold locally since the late 70's... they're cheap, reasonably solid, relatively easy to work on, ideal "P plater" car, no great mystery as to why there's so many of them on the road.

The fact that there are so many on the road reflects why the moron ratio is so high amongst the people who drive these cars.

If you stuck a label on every "import" i'm sure you'd find that the ratio of morons driving imports would be exactly the same.... but you don't notice it because moron A is in a Supra, moron B is in a Soarer, moron C is in a Skyline, moron D is in a Delica, moron E is in a Mustang etc.

As for the dickhead factor, i see more morons getting around in imports and more expensive cars.... it seems the people with the "shitter" cars can't afford to go around belting into everything, so they take more care.

Worst offenders around here are: (in no particular order)

Terios drivers

BMW drivers

Camry drivers

White van drivers

i get a lot of commy drivers take me on and show off the loud roar of a V8, its mainly the middle age men between 25-40 , a few p platers tale gate me , i just wait for a long straight and give the car a small squirt :P that gets them off my tail

he had had a warning on one his previous attempts.

have you been to a drift event? the cars line up and go two at a time. there is two barriers at the start and two at the end. he was powersliding past the end markers up to where the cars were lining up at the start. where he spun near the wall probably missed the last cars by 25m but it could have been alot worse and he definitely wasn't in control.

Bogan idiots have two main requirements for a car. I put these requirements into carsales.com.au to see the results.

Firstly, the car has to be under aout $7500 as without a decent job they cannot afford anymore.

Second, the car has to be rear wheel drive. This gives improved burnouts, powerslides and street cred.

This is the first page of results. Typical bogan cars in red:

1987 holden commodore executive

1993 ford falcon xr6

1987 holden commodore berlina

1995 holden commodore vs

1999 fold falcon forte

1984 mitsubishi sigma - plenty of bogans drive these

1985 holden commodore vacationer

1996 fold falcon futura

1955 hillman minx mark viiia - wont pull a mean enough burnout

1985 mercedes 190e - bogans wont drive German

1972 volkswagen beetle 1300 - bogans wont drive a hippe car

1983 mercedes 380se - bogans wont drive german

1978 holden monaro gts - less common these days, but a prime bogan car

1970 fiat 500f - wont pull a mean burnout

1982 mercedes 380sel - bogans wont drive german

1978 mazda rx7 12a rotary- Street cred does not 1.2 litres give!

1966 chrysler valiant regal - valiant is a bogans wet dream!

1976 holden hr permier - another prime bogan car!

1971 mazda capella rx2 super delux 13b rotary- Street cred does not 1.3 litres give!

1993 Toyota chaser diesel - bogans wont drive diesel

from this we can see that bogans actually have very little choice when it comes to cars! And with commodores and falcons being both the most modern and the most common, it is only natural that they become the weapons of choice for bogans.

bolger is a deadset f#*kwit. like i said, anyone who has met the fag will know what i mean.

Its funny that you say that because all the guys on the holden LS1 forums reacon hes a top bloke who has always been happy to give them advice on track days.

Oh yeah I was driving home the other night in my Charade when a R31 Blasts past me, then he slows down then accelerates then rips up the hand brake and slides into a side street (Residential area) nearly taking out the other parked cars.

Import or V8 it doesn't matter what car you drive, its who you are that makes you the dickhead, regardless of income or appearance.

good thread big rizza! are we seeing a common patern here?

obviously the under $7500 issue attracts them to these vehicles with the majority of bogans in the lower socioeconomic bracket.

however even the ones with a job and can afford a more exspensive car (dickhead at the track, VX SS commo) act like tools. looks like they can bust out of their economic bracket but not out of their social bracket.

have you spoken to bolger? if not, have a chat to him and then tell me what you personally think!

i drive a vl and a r32R and i think ScorpR32 hits many nails on heads ...

the ratio of jerks is exagerated more because of the marketing dermagraphic for a commodore i think... the boyz ,the beer, the shed , the bitches etc

they have always been like that the beer swilling australian pride wankers.

it goes back even further to the uneducated hoon ... there was a time i couldnt even take my turbo Calais to the nats with out being crusified by 5 litre owners .... since then many overhead cams have given them an uppercut and now they just talks poo and remain in denial there using cavemen donks ....

Yah 1986 VL SLs arent prime bogan cars. lol :D

Also alot cant drive manuals, so that leaves me out as I have a VL 5 Speed. :)

rofl this thread is a load of crap ... so you had some bad experiences with wankers in commodores. Doesnt make all commodore owners wankers. I seen people driving like dickheads in every car you can imagine from bloody toyota corollas to porches. The truth is there are so many morons out on the road that if you have a hate for a car your going to start to associate it with the drivers aswell. Hell go onto streetcommodores.com.au and see what they say about us... probably the same thing.

I wAs a Commodore VR V8 ex-chaser sedan driver, modified it from stock to around 215kw at crank (not much I know, budget job).

BuT I was never, and am not (as far as I know) a bogon_dickhead..... just depends on your morals & values.

Oh, I got some of them (m & v), as the VR got sold and I now drive a very shmick Stagea RB25det awd wagon, modified with 160awkw.

Dream car was always a R33 GTS-T, but with 2 kids I needed to be realistic, so a Stagea is the prefect compromise. Imagine driving a tool Commodore Wagon - hahahahahah no thanks.

please dont take this as gosple but,

Import drivers as a rule have a bit more cash education and come from better families.

Usually your inner city kids will have imports as apposed to comm and falcons as bogans dads grew up getting trashed at bathurst time and writting their peice of shit vh off!

There is classes of people simple. Pure fact deal with it and as a rule cheap shit cars are owned by cheap shit people.

Not gosple, ive got mates with nice commodores but they are not cockheads and their cars are vt onwards too so........

f**k being politically corect thats why our country is so f**ked. Go find a nice suburb in Bankstown to live. Thats where shutting your mouth and being a soft cock gets you

I post on StreetCommodores.com on a regular basis and bad refferences to imports do happen but very rarely.

However if you go to a Ford site the amount of "Whinging about Holden/Commodore drivers" happens almost every week.

Alot of people say Ford guys are much more mature and have a open mind unlike Holden guys, I disagree with this as both sides have their good and bad representitives like any car brand.

I think there should be some kind of dickhead test to see if you should have a licence. I don't know how some of the idiots on the road get there licence there is places to do burn outs and that sort of stuff and it isn't in a built up area. It doesn't bother me if people go out to back streets were they cant hurt or hit anything, i had one guy try and drift in front of me as he was trying to show his car off to me as he had a 33 and mine being a 32, i think he was trying to prove that his car was better! Well it isn't better now went straight across in front of me into a pole as i drive past with a smile and say to my mate next to me what a wanker. I guess you had to be there to find it funny but

    • Yep, yeah would need to do the flywheel although the 6 bolt NA clutch can handle a 20de if just wants to replace the stocker.
    • No it's fine. Heat sleeve is a thing. With oil running through it it is unlikely. Engine off heat soak can be a thing though. There is no way that you have a leak through the hose. That has pressure behind it and any small hole will turn into a large one in very short order. It is so much more likely to be leaking from the connection.
    • Really? That's piss weak. I didn't know they hobbled the shitboxen that badly. OK. So probs need to buy a flywheel too. But that's not too bad.
    • Hi all. I already posted some newbie-ish questions here and there but this will be my first "big" post. Last summer I went and fulfilled a kind of childhood wish, because I just thought I needed this experience in my life no matter what. The car I bought is a mildly modded 1995 BCNR33 Vspec. It was repainted to a metallic orange color all around and it had all windows reseated. Not so well done black respray in the trunk and a metallic black in the engine bay. From outside it looks very nice except for a minor paint error on the roof and the rear spats needing new adhesive tape. The inside is pretty clean and no broken plastics, missing or faded buttons. Even the adjustable mirrors and trunk antenna work like a charm. Despite a moderately long list of issues I don't (yet) regret buying this car. Most mechanical problems are just due to age, like worn rubbers here and there. The underside sadly has lots of corrosion, especially to the back. It looks like it either has been driven in the winter for a while or it lived near the saltwater in Japan, the rust is nothing terrible but it'll require to be looked after. Mostly panel gaps and all the mounted components underneath are a bit crusty, but I don't think anywhere has progressed so badly that there's going to be holes. Front right jacking rail is crushed and needs some care so it doesn't develop into a rust crater at some point. Worst part is definitely the strut towers. I thought they looked fine but after taking off the strut bar I noticed that it actually started bulging up on the passenger side. Probably would have passed on the car or negotiated down by some thousand Euros more if I had noticed this before buying, but here we are. Trunk area also has signs that there was a water leak to the interior once but nothing too crazy, I guess lots of Skylines had this at some point. As for the list of (known) issues, I'll try to make this compact. I hope the coloring is self explanatory. Mechanical: -Various busted or soon-to-be busted rubber bushings and ball joints. Will replace ball joints with OEM or better and bushings with polyurethane where possible. -Shaking steering wheel at above 80kph -downshift from 5th to 4th is a bit crunchy unless I rev-match, might just try to renew the shifter assembly, but it's not a priority issue -tailshaft centre bearing could use a replacement, is it worth going 1-piece tailshaft as it doesn't look too fresh all around? Chassis: -underbody corrosion on many spots and in hollow spaces, needs to be treated -corrosion on many bolts, hoses, lines, suspension components, subframes, will be treated when replacing of the bushings is needed as time goes on -strut tower top panels and some of the surrounding panels are rusty, so needs fixing. Will look into doing this with a buddy in the winter, otherwise bite the bullet and pay a professional -driver side door is misaligned to the body and needs to go a slight bit more inwards -both door windows are misaligned and have an airgap where the window meets the door at the B pillar -The Aerocatch latches for the bonnet have locks but no keys, need new keys. -driver side door window is kind of gritty and could use a polish -damaged jacking rails and front frame rails, from people lifting the car the wrong way, might have this fixed by a bodyshop Electrical: -Nismo tachometer is just bouncing and displaying nonsense, supposedly worked fine when the stock ECU was still in the car -An old Greddy boost controller sits on the dash which will be removed as it servers no purpose anymore. -a led segment rpm gauge is on the steering column, will probably also be (re-)moved once the Nismo tacho is working correctly -there was an attempt to make the sound system better by the previous owner but it was just inducing noise all the time, ripped out the amp and filters in the back, no music for now -trunk antenna goes up as long as the radio is on regardless of the mode, I want it to only rise if I choose Radio specifically or per switch -3rd brake light is a bit dimmer than the taillights but everything was converted to LEDs so mabye now it just seems dimmer? -reverse light flickers, have to test if that behavior changes when I fiddle with the gear stick. Hope I can get around changing the switch. -Left side taillight, blinker section has minor water intake and is humid after washing. Other side has a hole in it, probably for that exact reason. I'll probably reseal them entirely and plug the holes. Engine: -minor coolant drips on one or the other hose -rear turbo leaks oil onto the exhaust making the car essentially undriveable due to fire hazard -Oil filter relocation kit has an oil drip at the Dash lines, will probably make a new connection there and tighten real good and pray -throttle body assembly is slightly stuck for the first throttle pedal input after sitting for a while I'm always open to suggestions and advice from more experienced people, I'm sure half of this list is easily dealt with and just requires some time and effort to sort out properly. Once I have some proper pictures of the car I will post some in this thread, I just have to remember to take some more once I get the chance to. Will post updates when I have news on anything, I want to try to keep this thread as kind of a logbook as well. Ultimately my goal for this car is to just enjoy it. An engine rebuild is probably going to happen sometime as well, because it is old after all. It will never be fully new again, I am just not that rich. But I want it to look good, work well and not rot away while I drive it. I'm probably gonna spend a lot of money on this journey, hopefully not an unreasonable amount.
    • Hi all. So one of my major issues at the moment is my rear turbo leaking oil on the exhaust (and the general area). I presumed it was the rock hard super old drain hose, which it was not. So now I am in the midst of removing the rear turbo to get access to the banjo bolt that goes into the turbo oil feed. As one of the previous owners accidentally? tore off the OEM oil feed hardline that reaches behind the turbo, they ran braided lines directly to the turbo, presumably PTFE. Now, regardless if the line has rubber or teflon inside, is it just generally a bad idea to do this? I imagine these lines get quite hot being between the engine, turbo core and exhaust manifold. I suppose it's not too far fetched to think the line may even have melted. I'd love to hear your opinions on this as as the replacement OEM hardline piece is 130 per unit. And cutting open the currently mounted line to see inside will mean I just have to get a replacement either way. So far I am hoping maybe the bolt just loosened or (god forbid) they forgot one of the crush washers.
