mmm nice to see schui holding off dirty sanchez in a direct reversal of last years imola race. how good was webber? put a move on kimi in the opening lap and held it till the last pit stop. buttons pit stop was a laugh and that lolly pop bloke is so fired it's not funny. he f**ked up by raising the stick, then nicely smashed it into the car and buttons head so hard he broke the thing... good work.

when ITV were asking for new names for the lolly pop troy had a rare moment of clarity and came up with: the STOP farken! stick. i think it would go down well, email it in troy.

Good to see Schumi back on top of the podium again (it's been a while between drinks for him), but I still can't understand how Renault managed to botch up the win for Alonso by bringing him in early for his 2nd pitstop. They wasn't a direct threat behind him even though Montoya/Massa etc were closing. They should have just waited for Schumacher to pit and then bang in a couple of quick laps and then they'd surely be in front after their stop.

I thought Webber drove very well (not that we ever saw him - how shit was the coverage!), I think 6th is a good result for Williams considering they weren't all that competitive during the weekend.

Button's incident was a joke, infact his whole career has been a joke - the way he's going, he'll destined to never win a GP :)

LOL @ the stop FARKEN stick :(

Bring on Nurburgring :(

lol all i could come up with was stop stick....left out the farken...

pit exit controller....too long lol

as for the GP itself, was well worth staying up for (which i do 99% of the time) but this time i was already sick , and tired, and had to be up at 4:30...but i went to bed after it with a massive grin on my face....ferrari baby!

if they can sort out the tyre issue, they'll be back!

if they can sort out the tyre issue, they'll be back!

I think the only issue with Ferrari's tyres was the fact that they used up all their new sets during qualifying and had to put scrubbed tyres on their cars at each pitstop as none of the other Bridgestone runners had any problems during the race.

I think they've definately improved, but Imola is a track that Ferrari have always done well at, so the next GP at Nurburgring will be a good indicator as to how much they have really improved compared with Renault and McLaren and whether they'll be able to challenge for more race wins during the season.

true, thats why i wont let myself get too excited just yet...

but the fact that they know the track so well means they know what tyres etc....bridgestone still isn't up there with michelin yet....

its gotta be hard for bridgestone though with the majority of the top teams on michelin

The next few GPs are the ones where the Williams struggled a little...lets hope they keep the results coming.

How unbelievably bad are Honda. They seem to have the pace but go out of their way to stuff things up...be interesting to see if Rubens is there over the next few races. If not, it would seem i would have to cross out a few of those starts next to his name, as i rated him as a 4 star driver :D

what a entertaining race. the ferrari is a genuinely fast car this year, i just think that bridgstone need to put a little more into their research. aside from the 'graining' issue with 2-3 lap old tyres, they just dont seem to have the bite that the michilens do.

i think jenson button will be the most sucessful un-sucessful driver in F1! he just cant seem to pull it all together on race day.

well done to massa too, who drove rather maturely considering what he had done in the prior few races. and webber just stuck it out to hang onto 6th which was good.

dont you just love the way that montoya just tells it like it is?

Ur right i did get that one wrong..lol

But with regards to JPM, ur very correct he just tells it like it is, i love the way Journalists try to get a bit of interesting TV happening.. n he just does not buy in. Imagine McLaren's PR group, they must be working soo hard for their money with JPM in one pit bay and Kimi in the other...haha. Gone are the days of the slick DC and Mika was a man of a few words but a little more media friendly than his countryman.

Hats off to mark that way, he must be a sponsors dream. Its amazing how the drivers that are the face of the team can either make that fan following or shread it to bits.

    • Very nice - I also have a 92 GTST and hardly see any others around these days
    • When I need something else to edit, I use Movavi. A friend who does video editing on a daily basis recommended me) it's an easy video cutter to use for beginners

    • I think you're really missing the point. The spec is just the minimum spec that the fuel has to meet. The additive packages can, and do, go above that minimum if the fuel brand feels they need/want to. And so you get BP Ultimate or Shell Ultra (or whatever they call it) making promises to clean your engine better than the standard stuff....simply because they do actually put better additive packages in there. They do not waste special sauce on the plebian fuel if they can avoid it. I didn't say "energy density". I just said "density". That's right, the specific gravity (if you want to use a really shit old imperial description for mass per unit volume). The density being higher indicates a number of things, from reduces oxygen content, to increased numbers of double bonds or cyclic components. That then just happens to flow on to the calorific value on a volume basis being correspondingly higher. The calorific value on a mass basis barely changes, because almost all hydrocarbon materials have a very similar CV per kg. But whatever - the end result is that you do get a bit more energy per litre, which helps to offset some of the sting of the massive price bump over 91. I can go you one better than "I used to work at a fuel station". I had uni lecturers who worked at the Pt Stanvac refinery (at the time they were lecturing, as industry specialist lecturers) who were quite candid about the business. And granted, that was 30+ years ago, and you might note that I have stated above that I think the industry has since collected together near the bottom (quite like ISPs, when you think about it). Oh, did I mention that I am quite literally a combustion engineer? I'm designing (well, actually, trying to avoid designing and trying to make the junior engineer do it) a heavy fuel oil firing system for a cement plant in fricking Iraq, this week. Last week it was natural gas fired this-that. The week before it was LPG fired anode furnaces for a copper smelter (well, the burners for them, not the actual furnaces, which are just big dumb steel). I'm kinda all over fuels.
    • Well my freshly rebuilt RB25DET Neo went bang 1000kms in, completely fried big end bearing in cylinder 1 so bad my engine seized. No knocking or oil pressure issue prior to this happening, all happened within less than a second. Had Nitto oil pump, 8L baffled sump, head drain, oil restrictors, the lot put in to prevent me spinning a bearing like i did to need the rebuild. Mechanic that looked after the works has no idea what caused it. Reckoned it may have been bearing clearance wrong in cylinder 1 we have no idea. Machinist who did the work reckoned it was something on the mechanic. Anyway thats between them, i had no part in it, just paid the money Curiosity question, does the oil system on RB’s go sump > oil pump > filter > around engine? If so, if you had a leak on an oil filter relocation plate, say sump > oil pump > filter > LEAK > around engine would this cause a low oil pressure reading if the sensors was before the filter?   TIA
