Ill have the Italy coverage anyday (got used to it when I was there for 2 years)

I could listen bout Ferrari all day and it sounds so much better in Italian than English :(

Gotta love the Italian race fan-so much more passion _The Japanese are not far behind either

why is everyone whinging about it...all you hear about for the aus GP is webber this and webber that....

because genius the Mark Webber-thon is only one race a year.... we all have to listen to ITV for 18 races a year

you do tend to get over it when race after race after race all they do is say "I WANNA BLOW JENSON BUTTON" for 2 hours

put it on mute. i was too busy watching schumacher to worry about button :(

It's impossible to ignore the blantant JB bias during the ITV forecasts. It's a joke!

JB is by far the most overated driver in F1. The commentator's and press (and even JB himself) go on like he's a potential F1 world champ, yet the buffoon has yet to even remotely put himself in a position to challenge for a GP win, let alone a championship. And all this in a car that was topping the time sheets in testing and should surely be up there challenging for wins.

Simple answer - JB, you're shite! :(

As for the Australian commentators, everyone knows that they're a bunch of dills (except for Crompton who has half an idea), so their Webbo bias shouldn't be any surprise. I just wish either (a) Webber had a decent car so we could see what he's really made of, or (b) that he had JB as his teammate at Williams this year so he could show him up for the lame arse driver that he really is.

Hopefully the Williams reliability problems will go away as Webber (and Rosberg) have been showing some encouraging performances during the last few races (reliability issues aside).

Webber would of had a decent car if he went to Renault like flav wanted him to. Oh well one Aussie who wont be world champion-Sir Jack and Alan Jones must cringe

I wish he would - I don't know why he continues to persist with Williams when Renault clearly have the winning formula.

Webber is off contract at the end of the year, Rosberg is a young prodigy (who I doubt Frank Williams will want to let go) and Wurz was supposedly promised a race drive for 07. 2 into 3 doesn't fit, so hopefully Webber sees the light and looks at the possibility of going to Renault if the seat remains available to him. Webber used to test for Renault (or Benetton as they were back then) so it baffles me why he didn't go there in the first place - perhaps there was/is some sort of private rift there with a certain aspect of the team that we don't publicly know about???

renault test driver is gonna get Alonso's spot imo...
I think you're right about Kovalienen (sp?) possibly getting one Renault seat, but Fisi is off contract at the end of the year, and the way he's going, he might get the boot as well, so the door may be open for Webber???
The good thing about Sir Franks set up is he is a real racer and can bounce back (fingers crossed)
And their last championship was when?

I don't disagree that Williams are fighters, they just don't have the financial punch/resources that they used to have back in the day. In all seriousness, Honda/Button are Williams biggest sponsor this year (thanks to Buttongate) such is Williams' predicament at the moment.

I dont like Button anymore...use to a few years back, but not these days. But i dotn let the fact that i dont like the guy take away from the fact that i think he is a good driver. As good as some of his supporters make out???? Not sure, but any guy that jumped into the Williams like he did, well has soem real talent. A few years and teams later he is no doubt a good driver...how good we will wait and see but i dont think he is near as bad as this thread is making out.

As for Williams and Webber, my money is on Webber staying with Williams...its a known quantity, and i wont dismiss FW selling Rosberg off for some serious coin with a clause that he can have him back in 2-3 years, a bit like he did with Button (LOL look how that panned out though)

If Webber continues to show a clear pair of heals to Rosberg, then i suspect Wurz will get the call up, Rosberg sold off and Webber will continue with Williams. At least the car is fast...adn i dont think there is that much work for Williams to do until they see cars on podiums.

I think the next 2-3 races will see Williams emerge as the clear No.3 team, fighting for top 4 finishes.

As for Fisi, well he will be gone next year, and i think Kimi will be a chance at Renault...just a gut feeling

I absolutely love F1 but that was the most boring race I have seen in a very long time. After the first 5 laps was over it was just a matter of how much will MS win the race by and it stayed like that for the remaining 50 laps.

Mark Webber is obviously becoming extremely frustrated with Williams as his interviews showed. I think he needs to let afew words slip in interviews to really vent how he is feeling towards Williams so that Williams release they better pull their fingers out and do something before Webber disappears.

Williams have been the most pathetic top team in the last 5 or so years.

    • Stock equivalent turbo replacement is a bit of a nightmare. The old Hitachi ceramic things were pretty good for their time, but they have primitive, vintage aerodynamics. The only thing they have going for them is a light turbine**, and there are plenty of other light turbine options these days, in both materials and CNC manufacturing methods. So, the old stocker makes absolutely no power at all compared to its physical size and its (not very low) boost threshold and response. ** and the ONLY thing that was good about the ceramic turbine was that it was light. In all other respects it is a nightmare. To get a turbo that is anywhere near equivalent in terms of power capacity (ie, to avoid it being "bigger" and needing tuning/fuelling/etc) you have to physically downsize. And that is not a "stockish" replacement. Doesn't just fit where the old one did. At least a frame size down, probably need a new dump, probably need new inlet and outlet piping made on the compressor side, new hose connections as D said above. I say, if you have to suffer that much work, you might as well do the same work to fit an even bigger (than stock) turbo, have more power (and hence have to do injectors, ECU, etc), and love life, instead of suffering with stock power levels. Or, you get a light highflow from someone like Hypergear. A highflow that has not been pushed too far from stock. There are still modification consequences here though. HG's cores are smaller than the massive Hitachi core, so it is shorter, moves the compressor housing backwards and requires mods to the air side piping. Plus new hoses. Looks stock, mostly fits where the stock one did (with the previous caveats mentioned), makes a bit more power but can be run at stock boost levels and not cause too many ECU problems. But, seriously. It's 2024. Like - 25 years since the R33 came out. It's time to put an ECU in it. I Nistuned my car (on RB20 ECU then later again on the Neo ECU) and it was the single best thing possible for minimal money. Dial out the R&R bullshit, fix up the fuelling and timing to make it more efficient for normal driving (cut fuel consumption by >10%). Nistune is not an option for you unless you change the ECU, so you might as well just do a standalone. it will be worth it. And then you can tune it up to the limits of the injectors and AFM, which is pushing 200rwkW and enjoy some actual squirt, instead of the lazy barge-like motion you get from a stock engine, turbo and management.

    • Welcome James.....will be interesting to see how much fun there is in the project. .....where's the pics?
    • Your profile doesn't say where you are, but you can get your current turbo rebuilt by any competent turbo shop, places like Precision Turbos or GCG They can replace the core with a modern ball bearing unit and should be able to source same or slightly larger wheels to fit in you housing. Note if you change the core you may need new oil and water lines too
