i agree with benm, webber is good, but he's not great. it takes him a while to get his brain into gear during a race, the opposite of trulli, who starts great, then fades. webber is also one of the worst starters on the grid. almost every race, he seems to loose a spot or 2 or more from the grid, then has to waste time trying to recover those positions. i thought he'd have it down pat by now. oh well......

well webber proved me wrong on sunday night! he started pretty well to make it up the inside of Rosberg, and was on-the-ball right from the start. thought he could've made a bit of a move on Alonso, but he did well none-the-less...... if he can do this on a regular basis, he should have a pretty good year.

i think Williams is doing a good job punching above its wieght division but i dont think they'll threaten the front runners at all...

they'll be points stealers and qualifying nuisances. by that i mean they'll qualify well but just slow down the other cars untill they have to pit... kinda like toyota last year

i agree. but it was a shame that webber's engine blew. with most of the really quick guys starting down the grid, who knows where he might've finished.....?

looks like it'll be renault as the front running team this year. i think ferrari is the only team with a chance to bridge the gap. they seem to have good car speed and usually improve their performances when they hit the european tracks. McLaren might, but montoya looks un-inspired this year and raikkonen needs to finish races.

i must say, i am a little disappointed with Barrichello. he just cant get his head around that honda. i was expecting a lot more from him.......

Rubino lookin very ordinary in that Honda. Funny how he looked good in a Ferrari but not so good in the Honda. This car really set up for the smooth Mr Button. Like they say car racing is 80% the car and 20% the driver, and bike racing is 80% the rider and 20% the bike.

One other thing that fascinates me is how Toyota can blow $300 mill+ on a season and still be also rans!!!! At Malaysia they were no better than the Midlands in some practise sessions and not as quick as the BMW/Sauber team. What the...... :P

the commentators were saying how rubens had said he was good in the ferrari because of the Traction control. he'd just plant it and steer....if i owned the team and my driver said something like that, id fire him. he obviously isnt capable of driving the car himself, so what good is he

Yeah I heard thet to. Sounds like a comment made from an 8 year old kid when you go to a hire cart track-not from a F1 driver. Me thinks rubins might be lookin at a 1 year drive at Honda, then next year watchin from the bleachers

They switched rubber and struggled. I think Toyota may have to redesign their suspension to suit the new rubber. Mclaren had the same story a few years back when they switched from Bridgestone to Michelin.

Ruben has proven he has the ability to drive. i reckon it has to be more than the TC issue thats giving him grief.....

i think toyota needed to dump trulli years ago. they shouldn't have even hired him. you cant teach an old dog new tricks. Ralf and Jarno are both in the twlight of their career's. they both have had their time. i think toyota should be looking for one new fresh face to mould into their own and another higher profile driver for next season. a driver line up like Raikkonen and Ryan Briscoe would be a sweet combination......

Yeah I dunno if its just the Toyota drivers to blame (even though I dont think much of them). I think big rich Toyota just thought they could outspend everyone to death and win races. Well news flash to them. Brains + Dollars =wins. Also the politics and the European way of doing things might have been a culture shock.

It is the TC which is giving him grief... he said he was so used to getting in a car (ferrari) and having it do what ever he wants it to to... give him a few races, he's good enough to do well in any of the top flyers, the days at Stewart he punched above his weight, it's was only because he lived in Schuey's shadow that he's been overlooked so much, trust me he'll do well - he just needs to be a little more aggressive.

i think its both. Trulli has never been impressive and Ralf just seems to have lost interest the past few years. the car is obvisously behind and slow at best. everyone has dubbed toyota "the sleeping giant", cause of its huge budget. how much longer is it gonna sleep for???

Mate is promoting for it, you may have seen him at various shopping centres around melbourne with f1 cars and some grid girls. Should have brought your tickets off him, if you buy a 4 days pass they upgarde you to grand stand ticket.

most of those people dont know shit about F1 and you'll always get stuck behind a jerk off with a huge ferrari flag and block your view, and i dont deal well with my anger

i love walking around to all the displays and sitting on the spectator hills. Changing where i sit is the most fun cause you can watch so much more, like the back straight then the last two turns etc etc

lol very true, its heaps better cruising around. But if your into being lazy then the stands are for you.

wat i dont get is how you can just sit in the one spot for three fcukn days!! i know you can come and go as you please but wouldnt you feel obligated to stay put because you forked out $400 at least to sit there??

F1 is about the experiece and the atmosphere of the crowd, not fcukin sitting still in a shitty little plastic seat... if you gonna do that than just dont go

unfortunately i wont be attending this year. damn shame too......

i think webber should be the goods this weekend, provided he get some reliabilty. im looking forward to the 1st corner prang which has become a bit of a tradition at albert park recently!!! HA!

    • They are what I will be installing. 640s for me.
    • Hmm... From my experience you get about 0.25° camber change per mm of RUCA length change. So, to correct from -2.5 up to less than -1° (or, more than -1° if you look at the world as a mathematician does) then you'd be making 6-8mm of length change on the RUCA. From a stock length of 308mm, that's 2-2.5% difference in RUCA length. My RUCAs are currently very close to stock length - certainly only 2-3mm different from stock. I had to adjust my tension arms by 6mm to minimise the bump steer. That's 6mm out of 210, which is 2.8%. That's a 2.8% change on those, compared to a <1% change on the RUCAs. So the stock geometry already has worse bump steer than is possible - you can improve it even if you don't change the RUCA length. If you lengthen the RUCAs at all, then you will definitely be adding bump steer. Again, with my car, I recently had an unpleasant amount of bump steer, stemming from a number of things that happened one after another without me having an opportunity to correct for them. I only had to change the tension arm lengths by 1mm to minimise the resulting bump steer. (Granted, I also had to dial out a lot of extra toe-in in the rear, and excessive rear toe-in will make bump steer behaviour worse). Relatively tiny little adjustments having been made - the car is now completely different. Was horrifying how much it wanted to steer from the rear on any significant single wheel bump/dip. And it was even bad on expansion joints on long sweepers on freeway entry/exits, which are notionally hitting both rear wheels at the same time. My point is, the crappy Nissan multilink is quite sensitive to these things (unlike the very nice Toyota suspension!). And I think 99.75% of Skyline owners are blissfully ignorant of what they are driving around on. Sadly, it is a non-trivial exercise to set up to measure and correct bump steer. I am happy to show my rig, which involves nasty chunks of wood bolted to the hub, mirrors, lasers, graph paper targets and other horrors. Just in case anyone wants to see how it is done. I'll just have to set it up to take the photos.
    • What do you have in that bad boy ? Ill go with the 725cc since I'll be going with Nistune ( would definitely like more engine protection but Haltech is too far out of reach at the moment... plus, Ill probably have a pretty safe tune as its a daily, not gonna be chasing peak power 24/7 ahahah ). Are Xspurt a safe choice?  Pete's great. He didnt mention anything about traction arm length so I reckon it may be good. When I get some new wheels/tire later down the road I'll ask him about it and get his opinion on em. I heard from Gary that you've got the bilsteins too, are you running the sway bars too? and what other suspension goodies do you have installed or would recommend?
