Evo 9 Cop Cars In Victoria

Im sure this is just a marketing gimmick as someone stated earlier...

A bit like the Viper thing.

Unless theyre serious to having them as pursuit cars, im sure theyll fall under the same problem they had when they were using the WRX:

"fitting issues" i believe were a concern with most of the police driving the WRX.

Most simply couldnt FIT in the bucket seats.

I dont see the EVO seats being any more forgiving.

diet program for cops? maybe would be a start for maccas, subway, etc can stop giving them as much free junk food as they like ?

do they come with free clear tail-lights.. and pink car seat covers? and a giant sized fart cannon? and fully sik 5 sub-woofers in tha back to do the laps?

actually.. sure they're actually real evos and not just riced up FWD pov-packs with a bodykit ? <_<

dunno but as shan said pointed out these evos are donated not purchased so dont cost us shit all... except the usual cost for ricey stickers and lights

cops only get 1/2 price maccas and they actually have to go through a fitness program every week now too from what ive been told... obviously its a bit late for some lol

i shouldnt have any issues and neither would half the people that were at the exam and at the academy.

nah its actually quite a long process...

start off with the entrance exam... which is on maths, english and reasoning

then you have to go in for an interview... then psych and physical and then swimming... then you have to go before a panel and then into the academy if u make it that far

If anything its just a one of evo promo like the GTO, Viper etc.

The picture shows an EVO VIII.

I have seen an identical one at Chadstone Mitsubishi in Melbourne.

Presumably it is also a working vehicle, It seemed to have comms (2 -way radio) in it and the was certainly not much of the "stock" rubber left. Possibly used for evaluation.

As far as I can tell from the original post, "....one of my friends dad's who works for mitsubishi..." never confirmed the picture to be that of a IX either!

I have seen an identical car to the one photgrahed, in the flesh, up close (Chadstone Mitsubishi) and GOODNESS ME! I EVEN touched it! And you know what! It was an VIII too!

It was definately not Gold coloured (refer to photo) -but the IXs might be!

yup i dont know alot really.. but i will take your word that you know what your talking about because my friends dad (read: the guy i was refering to in my initial post) works at chadstone mitsubishi.. so yes you would be correct...

i dont know if he just doenst know what he's talking about or he gave me the wrong information by mistake.. but he said its an evo 9.. so i'll take his word for it until someone proves him wrong other wise.. i dont know the difference.. dont really care either lol

but i was refering to the new gold commodore hiway patrol cars as they share the same "stickers/ decals" as the evo pictured, not same colour....

but he told me that the police have 8 of them.. and to expect to see them on the road very shortly..... when i speak to him next i'll ask him if they were a 'gift' as such from mitsubishi or if they were purchased

Ruffels, please accept my apologies I never intended my posts to read like I was having a go at you.

Being a bit of a self-proclaimed EVO-nut (owning one helps) , I saw the photo, got excited and thought I would add my 2 cents worth based on the fact that I had actually seen it!

My last post was aimed at informing other members of the thread whose real goal is not constructive input, but to stir up a bit of aggro.

It seems that police have dabbled with small cars over the years -I believe- mainly as pursuit/interceptor vehicles.

They even had the original Mini Coopers and Cooper "s" as pursuit cars back in the 60's!

The EVO will probably go the way of the WRX and the rest of the small cars.

They don't seem to stay with them for very long.

Perhaps the imports are expensive to buy and maintain and generally too small for the "size" of the force.

I would imagine that the local cars have big financial incentives attached too.

The only WRXs I ever saw were hiding in the median along the Hume Highway. or poking out of turnouts on wide and faster country roads.

I have friends who report having seen them on the Geelong road and other parts of Highway 1.

Maybe it's some kind of incentive plan for an otherwise fairly boring job.

The reasosn i know of are

- police couldnt fit in the race style seats because of there police utility belt

- the police where constantly stopping and starting them without cooling them down wich caused problems with turbo or somehting like that.

thats all i know of.
