i've moved from 245's to 235's. from potenza flat runs (if that's the term for them) to Goodyear F1s. Given the different shape it looks as though I have lost at leas 25mm in contact patch. Can't really tell because I think the rubber is a lot better. Esp good in the wet.

Not sure of the point of this post.

Here's a point..... does any one else have Goodyear F1's and what do you think?

I'll just go now.

A not to well known fact but the width rating on a tyre is the MAXIMUM that the tyre can be made.

It can not be made wider than say 235 but it doesnt actually have to be spot on 235mm, it can be under.

Motor I think did a tyre test on 17 inch 245s last year and there was a great variance between actual measured tyre widths. Ironically, the cheapest tyre, a maxxis had the widest contact patch.

different companies make different width tyres

i had 265 falkens on 9"rims and they sat in a bit

then put on 235 federals and they sat pretty much completely flush.

was a bit confused till the boss told me about different companys and their tyres

if u read the product sheet with specifications for the tyre it tells u the actual width, i know the toyo australia website has a spec sheet on there with all the actual widths if you need to know them.

i assume other companies have them on their websites too.
