Hey peoples,

I need some advise pretty quick,

I have a 1990 R32 GTR, current mods are Tein suspension, sard radiator,Greedy FMIC, D-jettro Power FC and pretty much stock engine with healthy compression.\

I want to achive 11's, not to sound like a Hero (but basically take out most STI's and XR6's and V8 ss's and wrx's.

I have been advised for the following it will roughly cost me $5800 for the following installed and tuned.... which should give me about 400kw!!??? Advise on parts used and prices and also if my goal is reasonable using these configuration...

Sard 700cc $1200 Fit

Garett Turbos $3100 2560R / 2860R

Dumps $700 (xforce)

Bosh 044 intank $550

plus 2 hours tuning

Total $5800 fitted and tuned.....

Its this a good price and config..... ?

Used this mech shop before for my PFC (very good service and professional)

Cheers....

Actually, after mulling this over it can't be right. On www.horsepowerinabox.com 2560R huffers are currently retailing for $1320 each. The bigger brother 2860R are $1650 each. $2640 for the pair of 25s and $3300 for the 28s. So surely the $3100 figure quoted for turbos does not include labour to install them, - not exactly a small job. Anyhoo, if these figures are correct I would be going ahead my friend cause it seems fcuking cheap for all that work....

As for your target, the 2560R is rated at 320hp and the 2860R 350hp, I think a figure of between 320-350AWKW would be more realistic without leaning on the engine too hard.

Hope that helps....

My mech advised me that the 2560R and the 2860R are the same thing. People just give them different names.... ? same specks on turbo and both are just a bolt on to the GTR.

I have just completed this excersise, I went the big single instead. Get ready for the following if you want to run that sort of kw ( I agree more likely 350 at wheels) at high boost, standard internals wont last long, and gearbox will be on shaky ground. Your launches will suffer as a result. Standard clutch will maybe only live as long as the dyno takes!

My experience has been that Rand R( Remove and replace) will cost as much as the turbos, i.e. about 2-3k. Its a big job! So heres some advice, If you want that sort of power, and want to sleep at night when you do bite the bullet and do it save on labour costs and beef up the bottom end, gearbox, etc or whatever you can afford, just upgrading turbos without considering the whole package is setting yourself up for trouble later on.... Well your mech is wrong, or taking the piss out of you. Yes they are both a true bolt on replacement to the GTR, but have slightly different specs offering different power delivery and response. Go to www.turbobygarrett.com for the exact specs.

My friend have a standard turbo R32GTR that ran 11.9 on street tyres with just PFC, twin plates and usual mods like zorst, filters 16psi.

I personally have same car that ran 12,4 again on street tyres with same mods only 2psi less (14). I belive my car was slower due to my clutch was sliping, my tyres size are uneven meaning by the end of the terminal i still have about 30% power to the front where i'm not suppose to be.

You don't REALLY need bigger turbos to beat Sti's or XR8, well having said that doesn't mean you'll beat everyone of them, there is always someone out there that faster than ur car never the less.

If you really want to upgrade then i'll say go 2530's or R34N1 from what i've read on the forum and from what i've been advise by most of us VIC Skyline's owner's tuner which is BEN from Racepace.

I ‘am using the GT2560R’s in mine and I find it quite good, the lag is about the same as stock one.

I getting 241rwkws with only 10psi with full zorst with custom dumps and a k&n panel filter on a stock ecu.

When I fit the power pc ill be looking at running 14psi which should be enough for now :P

But all in all they are a great turbo and cheaper then the hks 2530's so you do save a bit and can spend elsewhere. B)
