*nods* Fair enough =) I'm sure that information is valuable to those researching their options. It saddens me to see any car, let alone a GTR, being completely abused. I mean sure, enjoy your car but know the limits of your cars components!

Now this is a very broad generalisation,it is not intended to offend anyone,but it appears to me that more performance enthusiasts buy GTR's, and GTS's are bought by guys with less performance aspirations.

The GTR guy will push the envelope,the GTS guy is happy with 220rwkw.

Whether this is driven by available funds or attitutude,I dont know,but I would never consider buying a GTS,not sure how other GTR owners feel about owning a GTS,this is just my opinion.

Well you are spot on with this point... but it's kind of obvious isnt it?? Why would people with $$$ to spend, and hard-core performance in mind go out and buy an inferior model, and try to work the shit out of it, when you can buy a GTR, which is a much more competent platform for performance from the start? Only a very select few would bother working a GTS-T past its normal limit since the GTR is supposedly so much better a platform! Most GTS-T drivers are happy with 220kw (myself included), because if they wanted more they would have just bought a GTR from the start!! :D

Though my performance aspirations for my GTST are nothing more than a reliable 180-190kw's or so as I don't wanna tune for higher than 10psi, purely to reduce the risk of component failure.

More power = more wear.

the bearing and ring materials are basically the same across motors you find in 1.3L hyundai's and Nissan Rb26dett's . These components all wear out over time and use ala the second law of thermodynamics.

The Rb26 makes more factory power than the Rb25 or Rb20 and proportionately lasts less time before these components are worn out.

Consider also that simple modifications on the RB26 greatly increase it's power above the levels of those other motors.

My R32 has covered the better part of 250,000kms and the motor is definately worn. The number 3 is well down 'cold' compression but, the plug is still clean and the motor does everything right with a small amount of blowby. I think this might be some kind of record for an engine of anykind this size making more than 200rwkw all it's life.

If this motor had been making 400rwk it would have lasted around 25,000kms before re-ring / bearing if your lucky.
