Hi everyone

Had an interesting conversation today with the guy at Dept Planning & Infrastructure that takes your licenses off you (he actually remembered me which is quite scary since he has 80 - 150 case files a week)

He was telling me at parliament at the moment is sitting a new proposal in regards to the way you lose your license. Basically the new changes are if you lose your 12 demerit points then you are given a one year good behaviour period in which you are still able to drive but if you lose one or more points in this period then your license is suspended for 6 months. THey will be abolishing extrodinary licenses if this comes into play too.

do you get the option of

"once you hit 12 points you lose it for 3 months"

and "1 year good behavior or 6 months" ?

is is it strictly good behavior or 6 months loss?

because really if you have clocked up 12 points, chances are you wont be able to go 12 months with no points.

I am living proof of that, I lost mine on Easter long weekend 2004 for 3 months and haven't lost any since.

I think it should be compulsary for everyone to lose their licence early so they learn how important it is to have.

P.S. I lost mine for speeding and now I tut at people who speed when its not necessary :P, especially doing 80k's in a 70k zone, I hate the fact that 70 is too slow in those areas, but I swear EVERYONE around me overtakes me doing 80 <_<
