my old GTS used to look identical to a GTSt Type M (being a Type S).. was debadged and had wheel nut covers on the BBS rims, so no one could tell that it was a non turbo straight away. This meant half the road going dickhead population that drives riced up underpowered cars didn't want to attract my attention, and the other half of the road going dickhead population wanted to prove to me that their V8/turbo/supercharged car was faster than my "turbo" car.

Now... FYI we don't allow threads that involve street dragging. So I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you mean dragging on a drag strip... if you don't want to be embarassed, just pick someone to do the run who's got a car of similar specs to you. 6cyl VN's for example.

i drive an NA r31, it has extractors and 2 1/2"exhaust so it sounds alright and looks ok on the outside too, i find its the other way around, its the smaller engined cars wanting to have a go..

...the lights at the drag sanctioned race track right? hmmm.

my first skyline was a nice NA gts 33 (with 400r front and fully rice GTR badge, lol), sounded hell loud so people would hear me coming from a mile away.

one saturday night pulled up at a set of lights next to an immaculate white S15 with two very good looking blonde girls in it, me and a mate in my car.

gave a little nod, and got a smile and nod back, then lights turned green.

pulled away slowly then gave a little squirt as we both entered the freeway, and she in turn put the foot down and promptly whipped past me with ease.

not so embarassing in itself, except that we actually saw them again later and my mate tried to explain that my "gts-t" was in bad need of a tune... *bitchslaps idiot liar mate*

    • Yeah it was a good result, and confirming the car is full of fluids and all interior etc in, other than fuel. I think a few pages back (maybe many pages!) he mentioned some serious lightening in the doors with the chassis punch, might have been done elsewhere I hadn't seen yet too
    • He still had the suspension dialled in for him! I would have sworn the lowest weight he ever got to was 1300kg though Maybe Neil had been drilling a LOT of holes somewhere you haven't found yet... 😛 Or has he also drained all the gearbox and diff oil out too, between it, and a tank full of fuel there's about 65kg to 70kg to add back in I'd guess. 😛
    • Yeah this isn't a super complex shape, but I was still happy to buy instead of fab version 1; very little in a modern can is a flat surface, and that is true here again - the undertray has about 50mm in height differences that I would have had to work out myself. I will probably make something more substantial before it does any rally, I don't think 1mm steel is too much use as a bash plate. There is also cooling to think about, Z1 have done a bit of development and have some air holes and louvers in the shape, will see how that works out too
    • If it's been tuned idle rpm can be changed.
    • Very slightly as there are bars connecting both sides of the ramp. The only difficulty that I had was doing the gearbox, everything else so far has been ok
