Bought my Stagea for the same reasons as most others - more practical and useful.

Did have a 96 R33 that was great fun, but coudn't carry anything (brief case filled the boot) and had no child restraints (got in the way of the speakers).

Wife got annoyed we were always using her car as we have a 3 year old son, so when Stageas became available, took her down to see one, she loved it too and we got one.

So now we can use eiher car and she likes the 3 child restraint points - yes more kids on the way is the plan.

Our son was scared of the Stagea at first, didn't like it and wanted daddy's red car (R33) back. He even cried when we put him in it. Then one day went to visit relatives, so my car was it and after a while, he loved it. Now he asks whenever we go out if we can take daddy's car.

Main reasons for the Stagea, practicality and useability something the Skyliine didn't have.

Kinda funny though that at 37 this is actually the first 4 door car I have owned and first automatic (even though have tiptronic). So from always having 2 door cars to a station wagon - what a change

Cheers, Al

i'm the oldest. my mr30 was a bit worn and the forrester was a ---it box. son bought an s13 ksrec so had to go one better.

Im 23 wuth a 4 year old daughter. Whilst we only have one for now she is wheelchair bound so we need lots of room to put it in the back as they dont fold down too small and have lots of bits that fit onto them. which means there is no such thing as a quick trip down the shops with her. when we got the territory we kept our EF fairmont for a while but it was starting cost to much to run.

we tried a smaller car for a while ( it lasted for 5 months and is now on the market) but even thoiugh the chair fits in there at a squeeze broken down into about 5 pieces it is difficult getting her into the back seat so after 5 months with a small second car it time for something else.I have had the import bug for a while now and after 3 years of wanting one and a few false starts I am finally about to look for my very own stagea.

Fell in love with them about 6 or 7 years ago after seeing them in HPI & "driving" them in Gran Turismo. Swore I would one day get one. Finally got one after the wife & I separated but wanted to show her that I was still thinking of the "family" by getting a Stationwagon. Besides that I'm pretty much over the whole Skyline thing although I did briefly entertain the idea of an R34 GT-T sedan.

Oh I have a 2 yo & two dogs aswell although being white, they're not allowed in it

We had ours for just over 2 years now, the arrival of the little one promted a larger car than the GTI-R, funny thing is we still have the pulsar as it has been off the road for virtually the whole time, but is about to be going again with 250+ rwkw!

I purposly have hung off on the mods, as i want it reliable, but the misses wants an axhaust a bit more boost

far out am i the only one that just bought one cos they LOOK GOOD!?!? I have no kids, dogs, anything. I just bought one cos they look hot, have a turbo and AWD, and they arent a skyline! skylines have become the new VN commodores where i live, to be brutally honest.

I first saw an ad in the trading post for a stagea, about 4yrs ago. i now know it was an S1. Since then, ive wanted one, just because they are stageas.

Having had it for 8mths, i have come to realise that they are everything i wanted it for, and more. I can throw the mongoose on the roof, next to the fiances surfboard, carry my bros and sis, and be comfy and... stared at lol.

Me and my lady are thinking seriously about kids, and although i didnt buy it for the sake of familyness (a word? or not?), its gonna be convenient. The stagea, with the exception of the legnum VR4, is the only car that caters to all tastes - looks, performance, prestige, comfort, space. Albeit with the possible exception of looks (VR4 front ends are hard to go past), the stagea does it all better.

Nah i love my front end. all bug-eyed and shit. awesome.

How about the dogs, do they get pissed at being in the bacl with non-opening windows?

hahah YEP!! but they are not going on the back seats! I also have a cargo barrier to keep them in the back and off my subs :O

The first car I bought with my own money was a Nissan Silvia n/a, which was replaced by a turbo silvia 4 years later (SR20DET)...and I fell in love with booooooost!!

I've been so impressed with the way these cars handled and performed that when it came time for more space I had to stick with a turbocharged Nissan import. :3some:

I wanted a car with 4 doors at least and some space (the silvias had very little of that, although the boot was very long).

So I was deciding between a R34 4-door (ALWAYS wanted an R34 2door - still do, but...) and a Series 2 Stagea (basically the same as a r34 under the bonnet, but with more room).

In the end it was the Stagea hands down because I preferred the interior of the stagea and they are much cooler in my opinion - being so unique and all. I love the whole sports wagon thing. Dont even mind the looks of the latest subaru liberty and the mitsi legnum but not to own - nothing but a stagea for me!

It was the more practical option, more space, AWD, and so much about it to love!

And as others have mentioned its got plenty of space and its a 5 seater so I wont need to sell it later when the kids come along...(I'm 24 now so a few more years yet)

btw, great topic Brendan!! :)

i bought mine because i had a skyline, but wanted a wagon like my first car. don't have any family and don't plan for at least 5 years, i'm having too much fun in my stagea to drive it 'safely' with kids in it

Well, i have to update my entry, as it's changed quite considerably.

I'm now engaged to get married and have a little bun in the oven, due around June. I'm glad i have the stagea now because it's going to be the prefect car. I'll have the manual in by february and after that it's smooth sailing (i hope) for the family wagon. I've also toned down my driving habits, so it'll last me another 100,000km (got 180,000 on it now)

I love my Stagea from the first time I laid eyes on it, almost as much as I loved my girlfriend up until last Saturday when we parted ways..........................now I just love my Stagea.

Heart was set on another wagon after owning one for a number of years, and after a friend mentioned them to me I began my obsession. I had done a fare bit of research on them as well.

Not sure whow it was that mentioned earlier in this thread but it is true, the Stagea commands respect when out in traffic.

Rock Solid

Why did i buy a Stagea?

1. sick of driving utes.

2. saw the Daily Planet 260 in HPI 28? or 29? and read the 1st and 2nd paragraphs.

3. work...anything spent is 90% deduction.

4. sleeper....mmm

5. oh, yeah... got 3 kids- 7, 4 and 2 and this wife ( glad she hasn't asked me to choose between her and the

car yet).

Pity there was only 2 in Sydney when i was looking (too overpriced) , so i had to go to Queensland. I flew up and drove home on the same day.

well, I saw one about 2 years ago and fell in love, it took me another 12 months to find out what the heck it was and then I saw one being used as a course car at the TargaWest 2005 and I was sold from then on.

I am married with 2 kids (7 & 11) and a rottwheiler so that made the decision to buy one a little easier, but the turbo and 4WD made it a snap.

I even abandoned my rather unhealthy obsession with Fords to make it happen and I can't say I regret the decision.
