Hi all, just wondering how many of you's out there have wound some boost into your cars?

We run 10 pound all day everyday.

What is everyones idea of a safe boost level to run?

Also what sort of fuel ecconomy do you guys get now?

... you's ....

Sorry, firstly a pet hate of mine, it's 'you', plural and singular.

And on topic, i run my bleed valve at 10psi as over that the stock stagea computer has a fuel cut and the car jerks around. not a fun experience.

I'm getting about 350 - 370km to a tank city driving and over 450km to a tank country driving

I've got the jaycar IEBC set at 10 pound on high boost setting. With the stock (well I've got an R34GTT but close enough) intercooler and turbo I won't run any higher than this. I also doubt if I did I'd get much more power anyway. As it is even though my guage only just flickers about the 10 at times I still hit boost cut when I push hard between gear changes (auto).

i'm not having a real fun time with fuel atm as most people here will tell you. If I can get it over 300k's city i'm doing well atm. But I've only just bought it and am now learning how to drive it for better economy (= baby it). on my current tank i'm at 70k's and in between 3/4 and full so its looking better already.

mine is running 11 with the uni chip, seems much better than standard but missing under load, think its the coil packs. getting about 280 to 300kms a tank city driving, but i do have a bit of a heavy foot

It's prob a good idea if you add if you have the standard turbo, exhaust & any other mods.

Mine is stock except for a splitfire filter, & i run around 10, but i find at around 5000rpm it feels like a stutter in the power band & i got no idea what it is?

0 boost for the last 8 months haha, and before that was 18psi with 350rwhp for about a month, and before that it was stock 7psi with the rb25.

soon to run 17-18psi as a base tune, and then in a few months hoping to put in over 2bar and push the t04z to its limit :D

Well currently I'm running 8 - 9psi...

When I get the Jaycar IEBC installed etc. I will be running 10psi low and 14.7 (1 bar) on high.

Fuel economy sucks :P Cant really get over 350 no matter how hard I try

Once I get it tuned properly I want to run about 10 psi, as the stock rb25 turbo's do not respond well to anything over 1bar for prolonged periods, or so I have been told and read on here, (there are thousands of threads on this subject).

But I was getting about 400kms out of a tank, but that was with the pfc tuned with a blocked radiator at the time, so it was tuned stupidly rich.

I have to clean the back screen at least once ever three to four days otherwise it gets blocked by that unburnt fuel soot :(

Hopefully in the next couple of weeks it will be tuned properly on 10psi, and I will be aiming for ~500kms out of the tank, hopefully :P

Q was, what is the back screen? is it just the rear window?

I thought at first it may have been something on the intake causing your fuel rich problems. I suppose I had in my mind what others have said about cleaning their AFM's.

I just wanted to be up to speed with my servicing before it became a problem.

After reading some of these threads it seems that most people have a squeak/rattle or misfire problem somewhere. Everytime I drive mine I listen out for things and have yet to fault anything. (except for the noise in my left ear saying "slow down you've got kids (3) in the back!")

It runs flawlessly and I love it more each time I drive it.

OH OH OH Sorry :D Rear Screen = Rear Windscreen :)

And its the whole back door and rear bar, that whole area gets covered in black soot, but I am sure it is because I am running stupidly rich, I leave a HUGE black cloud of fuel smoke when I do launch it :D

Currently running 10 psi controlled by the IEBC with the DFA tuned (~11 to 1 A/ F ratio) which was as good as we could get it with the standard exhaust. The R34GTT intercooler is fitted but the Magic cat is still in the garage with the 3.25” exhaust. Plus the SITC is fitted, but untuned, it is waiting on the exhaust.

Now that the project R33GTST is serviced, registered, suspended, PFC’d and running hard and fast, I might be able to get back to the Stagea. There is also a GCG ball bearing high flow and a split dump/engine pipe to go on.

BTW, It was pretty useless running more than 7-8 psi without the DFA, the standard ECU R&R mapping made it slower than when it ran 6 psi.

:D Cheers :)

Running 12psi. All fully tuned.

Full exhaust, fmic, NEW oxygen sensor (for best fuel economy), pod filter, sitc, safc, ebc etc etc.

Get over 420km per tank (hitting resevre), with 160awkw.

Great pick up at 5000rpm, no splutter for me - a nice safe tune, rarely do I let it stay at 12psi....... (heat factor = dead turbo).

Got a spare turb' sitting on the shelf.......

my car is completely stock except for the 3.5" exhaust, front mount, and pod filter.

plannin some more mods down the track.

but I don't wanna go crazy.

keepin in mind that this is my daily run about family car.

if my other half had his own way it would have had a turbo upgrade and computer by now.

but in the end it's my car and the foot comes down...

lol....

    • ADHD in all form isn't about "can focus, or can't focus" or is hyper active or isn't etc.   It's all a dysregulation. Either time feels to be stationary, or time just vanishes in a split second. We are either under focussed on the task at hand (as we're over focussed on our surroundings) or we have no idea an atomic bomb went off beside us as we're so hyper focussed and locked in on things.   Not to mention the rapid fire thought process. What it takes a "normal" process to think up a solution to a problem, ADHD will be able to give you 5 different ways to solve the problem, and the pros and cons of each. While we can be highly impulsive and lack the ability to "control ourselves" we can also become paralysed with the inability to make a decision for ourselves. While most of us have an OCD like requirement for perfection, we lack the ability often to remain focussed to get things to a perfect state. Those with undiagnosed ADHD as adults, can often find the last part actually stops them ever attempting to do things that they have the ability to do, as the reasoning is often "if I can't do it perfectly, it's not worth doing"   As for projects... Ha ha ha, I still need to take the other half of my wall trim down in the Fiance's office so I can paint it. Need to finish digging and running the back yard drains, my R33, getting the Ninja bike registered (now being sold), the moped project, fixing either of the lawn mowers so they're reliable, along with a myriad of other things.   It's why I've been going through lately and just being brutal and clearing projects off that I won't actually ever complete. IE, moped will go to the tip, or be given away, bike is being sold, Subaru project being sold, some parts for other projects given away. Or I've been making myself focus on one thing at a time, by ticking off the smallest quickest ones first.   There's also a reason by our mid twenties we seem to be "know it alls", as we've all been down some of the weirdest and oddest rabbit holes when you follow the dopamine trail. It's often also why we're more a jack of all trades, but not a master of one.   However, pretty much all of my hobby projects, in one way or another, all come back around to automotive. That's my zen area.
    • Remember reading about this not too long ago. been for sale for a long time  this is like when the wife says you need to sell the car so you put it up for a ridiculous price no one will pay
    • You are perhaps suggesting that it is not a super car? Well....it's not an AU.
    • Dropped the MX5 of this morning to get the hardtop colour matched and some PDR done, they are also going to give it a buff to remove some "stubborn" swirl marks and light scratches in the clear coat Over the last few months the poor little thing has copped some shopping centre car park abuse, I try to not park in them, but hitting Westfield's a few times over the last few months has taken its toll, nothing really bad, but enough of a trigger for a "while we're in there" thingie  Once it's back and all the one colour, with a few dents and mark's removed I'll give some of these products a go and see what they're like
