Hey .... in the last few weeks i have been steadly ironing out the bugs in my recently purchased r32.

Now most of the fix's have come from experienced people on this forum who have seen most issues well before i could ever diagnose as a new owner.... thanks BIG time for that SAU's

The small issues i cant seem to solve localy or get diagnosed are as

1. turbo timer is intermitant and i am scared to turn the car of sometimes if i have moderatloey warmed up the exhaust side as sometimes it just cuts the engine ... the timer is import and only has minute change function..... Anyone know why this would happen ?

2. Car is always warmed up standing till temp is at perfect operating temp... the odd thing to me here i havent ever had ceramic twins before so i dont quite know how they react...

Anyway until boost has been run through the turbos for a minute or so they sound like a cricket in the bush ... it dosent matter how long you warm it up for . the noise will be there until you have put a few gears changes using boost ... what is this ? is it normal because as soon as its been spooled a few times the noise changes to the usual air rushing sound.....

3. this is a basic problem i havent been able to test properly my self yet ...

the car's leaving me stranded with run down battery .... Some days it fine and charging and then other days the volt meter starts to jump aound ? usualy leaving a flat battery from the engine using the battery power... this i will be sussing as today as much as i can as she let me down in public last night (out with the jumppak how humiliating) How does an alternator be good some days and not others?

is this a symtom of a voltage rectifier on a LINE because i have only seen them over charge?

1. Don't know why but don't be scared. If you are driving fairly sedately for the last 2-3 minutes of your journey then you don't need the turbo timer anyway. I rarely use mine these days.

2. Sounds like the oil isn't going through at idle.

3. I think you have a loose connection to the battery, the alternator or a major earth like the engine or chasis (there is a lead from the negative of the battery to the chasis to the engine - check that)

1. As Abo_Bob said, if you are sensible and drive sedately for the last k or so, then you don't require a TT. (The Shell Sierras would only do a "slow" lap of Sandown after practice, then simply pull into the pit garage and switch off the engine, and they had been pushing 3 bar boost through the engine)

2. The engine will warm up quicker if you drive the car. If you are sensible, and don't pull boost during that period, then no damage is likely to occur. Japs generally don't take care of their engines, so it's likely some old engine oil is baked in the turbo bearings.

1. I have turbo timer Greddy, I was panic like u, as my timer intermittently didnt work, as sometime after a drive, I turn the igntion off, the timer didnt stay on. But now i know why, not sure if its similar to urs. But here goes,

- I noticed that when i park, with gear in Neutral, but handbrake Not on, Timer will shut Off.

- If I stop, and Clutch still in, Timer shut OFF. (weird)

- If I parked, HandBrake oN, but in Gear, timer is OFf as well...

so to corect it, i come to a complete stop, handbrake Up and in neutral and clutch is oUt, then it works Normal....

hope ur problem is as simple as mine. just take me a while to realise.

cheers,

Cool thanks gang ....

1. yeah guys i always warm her down 3 or 4 kays before shutdown just piss's me off but i will give ZXFIRE soulutions a go :D

2. will keep monitoring ... its just such and odd sound if it catches me by surprise ... but as i said as soon as its all used for a bit (pressure put through turbos) chirping noise gradualy changes to air sound...

3. sorted ..... by removing alternator, inspect and refitting with secure new connections ...

Thanks again SaU's
