G'DAY my name is Son! i am 18 year old bloke and i don't have a car yet :P but i will be getting one this year! well at first i wanted a r32 gts t or a vl turbo but then reality struck me! the reality is since i'm a full time student and i'm not making any income but through my parents well i can't afford to maintain a performance car! so which means i'll be looking at a family type of car, something like a maxima, pulsar, bluebird or something along those lines! but rest to sure my next car will be a gtr! it's my dream to own one but most perferably a r32 gtr but any of them would be fine, just as long as it's a gtr :D well i am a skyline lover and i now know my reason for living on this planet! it's to own a gtr! but the reason why i'm here is to learn, build onto my knowledge of skylines and get some advice on modifying skylines so i might be asking a few questions if none of you don't mind that!

well enough about me and skylines rule the streets(sex on wheels) ooh yeah baby :P

As with all cars... You can buy a lemon that requires you to spend $$ on repairs or you may get lucky and hardly have to spend a cent.

I am lucky... I have hardly spent a cent over the 4yrs (137,000km's) i've owned my R32.

Top radiator top tank - $90

S/h Clutch fan - $70

Clutch master and slave cylinder - $75 and $35 respectively.

Pretty damn reliable.. Much more reliable than the 3yr old VS commodore I bought prior.. Within 9 months I had spent almost $5000 in repairs. Pwr steer pump, a/c, rear subframe, gearbox and diff.

I'm at uni full time in my last year.

Work through the holidays for mod $$. :)

I have recently muched an rb20det gearbox as they don't like the 3ltr's torque. :P So my fault..

Yep replaced 2 clutchs, one was a organic HD, that did ~110,000km's and still felt good when it came out, it was getting low though.

Ive since dropped in a ceramic 9 puk 1 tonne job to hold the 3ltrs torque and power.

I've clocked 30,000km's on mine now and it still feels new and has plenty of meat on it.

I don't consider clutch's to be maintenance, they are like brake pads & shockers. :P

I haven't replaced my shockers yet.. :S 204,000km's in total they have done. Still feel firm but could do with replacing.

hmmm well mine doesnt even come close to even a RB26 torque but i sure do drive it like its a GTR :P

it still gets me wondering wot sort of lifespan it will get

when i saw the clutch b4 install i swear there was like 1 to 1.5mm of meat on it and i thought to my self omg is that all they come with

cause i bought a Xtreme HD clutch the cheap1 with 850kg pressure cost 500 and 400 to install

i was wondering wot sort of life i should expect from this clutch

i do like to occasionally do the 5000rmp launch

when i saw my clutch out of the car (the new1) it had about 1 too 1.5mm of meat and i though OMG is that all

ye the clutch is suitable i email support @ extreme and Brad Fox from adelaide clutch services said this

"i have a heavy duty cushioned button clutch which will have good street driveability but hold your power and have the performance of a ceramic clutch kit..."

and then he quoted part number KNI24001DCBHD for 500bux whick i then took that letter to kents and they got the clutch and did the install

too which ive been happy with had a couple funny noises which 1 person told me it was sprigget bush and other said it wasnt

so anyways ye pretty happy

LOL Brad Fox is a good mate of mine.........he has been working at Xtreme(Adelaide Clutch) for as long as i've known him which would be about 6-7 years now. He used to race Go Karts and now races a Saloon Car. He and his old man build motors in their shed and have done so for many years. He is a very reliable source when it comes to cars and their parts.

your right its the sprigget bush. the harder you drive it the worse it will get. by the way to fix it its almost the same as a full rebuild. got to take all apart remove every gear cog to get to it .

      @GTSBoy Yeah i know. The RB20 has 180Nm torque and the gearbox "should" take up to 400Nm if you are not doing stuff like drag/drift or dumping clutch and of course then it is pure "luck" on how will it last. My problem is (i think i said this in different post) that my car was very badly maintain so i would not be suprised if the oil in the gearbox was not changed until i bought it. Yeah the gearbox seem little bit sad.   @Sxnjeet the +T seem very interesting but from where iam from it was nearly "impossible" to done right and not blow twice as money as just swap for the RB25.

      Hi, I went to the MINES shop here and bought something.. Niikura-San just happened to be there so I managed to take some pics and got him to sign my dash surround thingy. Its still wrapped in plastic back home.. I was thinking how to preserve the signature??? Im sure someones thought of this and done this in the past.

      If the plastic wore, the paint will wear quicker. Heck, most car manufacturers cant keep the coatings they put on their buttons/trims alive these days for more than 5 years... A cheap paint won't do it!   However, you can get away with high quality vynil wrap, primarily in areas that won't cop much abuse. Skip colour matching, and just try and wrap a specific area with an edge in a new colour.   PS vynil wrapping is a prick of a job, and I suck at it, even for a small dead flat surface...

      I think this is more a question you should ask the tuner. My assumption is you have nothing plugged into the original pin for ring gear crankshaft, which is where your map sensor should get wired to, but now you've asked the tuner to disable it. I'm assuming (because I haven't memorised your setup) you are using RB25 ECU on the RB20 loom, to plug into an RB25. You will want to check what else is connected potentially backwards between the engine, loom, and ECU. You might be all fine and safe. The best solution you could have done is wire in a map sensor, and leave the ECU able to read a map sensor.
