Seeing if any of you have had this problem before. I found on my R34 that the windows were not sliding up evenly. A friend of mine said that all it was was the rubber guides drying out and that I should spray a little silicon spray on the tracks and the top guide.

I did this, but now there is Silicon spray smeared all over the inside (tinted) and outside of the glass, as it has also soaked into the bit at the bottom that cleans the water from the windows.

HOW do I get smear free windows again? What can I use to clean it?? :P

Any help appreciated.

Yeah, the window runs like brand new again. The drive motor sounds like it is running much smoother now too.

I have also been told metho will clean it up, so I will give it that a shot too.

Cheers

get some window cleaning spray, should take it right off, or try some turps,

did it fix the window problem though?

Sounds like you sprayed too much on.  Do you think?

Yeah, very easy to get carried away when you are trying to get the window to wind up smoothly again.

as long as this dosn't remove the tint!

I spoke with a Tint friend of mine and he said metho is fine as it doesn't contain a certain chemical that Windex Window Cleaner has. He said never to use window cleaner as it has this chemical (I forget the name) that will kill your tint sooner or later.

na, a few times might not kill the tint,, but it will damage it over time, and bye bye tint waranty,,,

just make sure u don't use on the inside of the windows (where the tint is)

the rest of ur car probably has factory tinted glass ya? cleaning them with windex isn't a problem,,

i think its ammonia or something like that , makes the tint go that gross purple colour,,

Afro, you never seem to amaze me with your wealth of knowledge!!!!

Ammonia....that's it. Nice to hear from you again!!! :P

It will only send the old style tint purple. It used a vegetable dye in its formulation as opposed to metalic particles used in current window tints. If it turns it purple - its going to go purple all by itself from sun exposure. :D

Siemens has been losing ground though since Stuxnet, as cybersecurity is a big thing. In my line of work that is federally regulated, you must by law have a cybersecurity management program in place and its audited and inspected every so often.  I work with Emerson PLC's daily (RX3i's) and have done large biogas/refinery projects with their DCS's. Their PLC's are somewhat OK minus the way they do PLC redundancy (You have to download on both PLC's separately every time you make a change )  As for their DCS's... you'll be limited financially first before anything else stops you. Costs are exorbiant at roughly 10x what it would cost you to do with any other system (e.g AB PAC).  1990's, those suckers are brand new haha! Kraft-Heinz (An old client when I use to work for an ESP) still runs Siemens TI505 PLC's from the mid 80's. Ohh how I don't miss working with those... you could only do a certain number of online downloads until it's "Change" buffer would be full and you would then need to go offline to do a full download. There was no warning of when this was coming up and it generally would happen when you would go in at 2am to make changes before production -_-.
    • Unfortunately, not only is that not the case, one of the main "Selling points" of safety over comms is they clearly state in writing that there's no need to segregate safety networks from non-safety networks. It always gets intermingled with everything else on an ICS/OT network.
    • Hello. I have an a31 cefiro but since I am in Turkey we have a CA20S engine. I did some research. Then I found that I can swap with a ca18 but when I heard that it has the similar substructure as the s13. I thought I can swap with an sr20 because the sr20 was used with the s13. So can I easily swap the sr20 on my cefiro or is it difficult?
