Ok, at the moment I have no shims for my engine. I need 24 obviously. My question is to those guys who have setup the inlet and exhaust valve shims before. Do the clearances vary a great deal or are the all the same in dimensions.

I doubt that they will all be the same on an engine with 70000+ K's on it.

The required shims are different sizes, even on a new engine. That's the whole point of using shims!

The clearances depend on the length of the valve, thickness of the lifter and mostly how far into the head the valve seats.

Most head reconditioners don't order shims, they just grind the back of the valve to open the clearances back up after they have dround the vlaves and cut the seats.
