i'm with rev210 i think your bolt would have broken first causing the cam to break, the same thing happen to a set of hks cam in WA. On the bolt i will never reuse std cam bolts again after seeing two break on removable of cams for the rebuild. Tomei upgrade studs are not very $$ and well worth the money.

Yep...they are. Only thing is, they are a butt pain if you want to fit mines cam baffles.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I found this topic whilst searching and just after some more input on replacing the bearing cap bolts when swapping camshafts. Poncams will be going in my RB25DET pretty soon and I want to make sure its done right.

I found these on the nengun site and it appears they are only made for the RB26 (tomei website confirms):

Would they work on a 25 as well? Is it a worthwhile investment in your opinion? The cams will be installed by a professional but still I would like to know what people think.

definatly instalation. cyl 5 im pretty sure is one that is loaded whilst intsaling them with the timing mark lined up.

its so easy to break them.

Installation....renewing of retaining bolts.(Bearing Suds.)....measuring up shims....making sure they fit well

into their seat or cradle are all important.

I needed 21 new shims because all mine were out of wack....or someone had removed after market ones before

and put back the original and not checked shims and clearances.Who knows?

I mean do you know the entire history of the car?

Did you change any shims or checked clearances.....

I asked this question before and got the answer...Poncams are a direct bolt on....nothing else needed.

Anyway back to the topic........90% Installation and 10% Defective product,,..that is the way I would measure it.

recently brought some Tomei cam cap bolts and was wondering what to torque them too? stock settings?? Not sure

all details in the box with the Tomei ones are in Japanese so not sure

oh for an RB26DETT
