importers

You will still be able to bring them in , just have to organise with a registered compliancing shop to do the work and pay the appropriate fee.

What will be a lot harder is bringing in modified ones as they will be required to be returned to near stock.

Accident damaged is also going to be a little tricky for a while until the level of damage allowed is sorted out with the authorities

Could be a good business in renting and installing/removing std gear:D

Cheers

Ken

Under RAWS (the new compliance scheme) apparently cars must be completely stock. Any aftermarket parts on a car when it arrives in australia must be destroyed. This might even include wheels! Well thats what i heard anyway...

exactly what ex-static said.

We here are moving into the new RAWS scheme(very expensive!!!), and though we know most of the new procedures that need to take place, there are still some things in which issues have not been sorted out(since its not enforced yet and even the authorities dont know whats goin on).

You can still import a car privately, but the compliance plates + paperwork are going to be quite high, which might turn some people off and they end up buying from either dealers or wholesalers like us.

I dont think any1 would be STUPID enough to actually destroy these precious aftermarket items, but we would most probably ship them seperate or in a box in the car or something, and the purchaser of the vehicle can do whatever he/she pleases with them, coz afterall its their parts. However, this all costs money, you have to pay parts + labour to remove the parts, and if you're gona put them back on, labour again...

thats my 2c of the whole thing, i think im about 100% right since i work for importers, and thats what is going around...

cheers
