ranicx Posted February 18, 2006 Share Posted February 18, 2006 Australian Government Bureau of MeteorologyNew South Wales TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST NSW SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for LARGE HAILSTONES, DAMAGING WIND and VERY HEAVY RAINFALL For people in the Central West Plains, Central West Slopes, Illawarra, Hunter, Central Tablelands, Metropolitan and parts of the Northwest Plains, Northwest Slopes, South Coast, Northern Tablelands, Upper Western, Mid North Coast and Southern Tablelands Forecast Districts. Issued at 5:30 PM Saturday, 18 February 2006. Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones, damaging winds and very heavy rainfall in the warning area over the next several hours. Major locations within the warning area include Newcastle, Gosford, Sydney, Wollongong, Nowra, Armidale, Orange, Goulburn, Tamworth, Gunnedah, Dubbo and Parkes. 3cm hail was reported near Mount Pleasant around 3:30pm A 51 knot gust [94km/h] was recorded at Trangie at 5:00pm The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep clear of fallen power lines. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * Unplug computers and appliances. * Avoid using the phone during the storm. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 13 2500. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN65156.shtml Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/106340-hail-warning/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
