Putting a fmic on will on decrease response, you will not get any more power from it.  I would go so far as to say that if I had my time again I wouldn't have put a front mount on until I upgraded the turbo.  The r34 smic is bigger than the r33 one.

On my R33 changing to a FMIC gained me 6rwkw (full exhaust + pod only mods). :D

Hi guys

I had a full 3" exhaust fitted today on an otherwise stock GTT.

BATMBL 3"split dump and front + big bodied stainless steel cat + cannon cat back with midmuffler/resonator.

First impression, loud! haha power wise, didnt feel that much of a difference, a tiny bit better but not like a 20-30rwkw gain. Boost increased by roughly 2psi from about 5000rpm onwards.

Anyways, I hadnt chucked my car on the dyno before so decided to give it a go. I know the R34 manual GTTs make roughly 140-150rwkw in stock form.

Put mine one, 163.5rwkw. Quite disappointing actually. I wanted to crack the 170 mark, I know all dynos etc are different etc etc. I thought my car woulda made 150rwkw stock, plus another 25 at least from the exhaust.

Here is the dyno sheet, what do you guys rekon?

Tuner recommended getting a FMIC as inlet temps were getting high.

Else he said everything is running fine (which is probably the best news).

Too much expectation with the exhaust, everyone was telling me how it would make a huge huge difference, hahaha ah well, the saga continues.

Thanks all!

Check the Barrometric Pressure figure of 105.0, i doubt whether it would be 1050mp where ever you live. This would give you a lower figure than normal as shootout mode looks at this and calculated a lower reading. If the BP was correct say 102.0, then you dyno would read higher

Evil: torque increase? dont know, is there supposed to be a reading for that somewhere?

So I guess its a good reading for the 2 mods that I have.

Then a full exhaust is not all what its cracked up to be, sorry got my hopes up with thinking that the spit dump and cat + exhaust would do wonders as everyone seems to think.

Whats everyone recommend as the next mod? Im chasing only close to 200rwkw, nothing more.

That's on an R33.  It's not the same for the R34 because of the stock cooler being bigger.

Fair enough. Wasn't sure if you were just talking about R34s. :P

Up the boost (recommend EBC)

PowerFC

Should get you pretty close to 200.

I will have to disagree with you there, I've got an R34 GTT Auto and putting a Hybrid FMIC on it definatley made a difference. I have not dyno'd it yet though.

Bleh, just be happy with the number... then mod the crap out of it! I was disappointed at my lowly number - so I went nuts and started to mod like no tomorrow!

Dyno Tune on Saturday @ Hitman :D

As for CES's claims on S15's, my mate got his S15 done at Mercury Motorsport with a full CES system, 12psi boost (ebc) and a pod with CAI.

172rwkw.

Throwing a fmic on there got him 176rwkw with a little more boost but the car was running out of fuel by that stage.

It's basically a known fact that the exhaust in Aus spec S15's is restrictive to the mofo and that's why they get such huge gains from this simple mod. CES isn't cheap though. Think is was around $2500ish.

I have seen S15 exhausts and they are tiny as anything, so perhaps you are right.

I know a S15 dynoed at the same place, full exhaust, 13psi boost, and only got 160rwkw.

CES and BATMBLs pipes are almost identical, I dont see there being much a difference in performance between the two. Also I would say their catbacks are equal if not lesser quality than the jap ones. e.g. Fujitsubo.

S15s seem like they are easy to extract power out of, I thought Skylines were the same.

Nonetheless, I shouldnt be complaning, its an OK number, dyno figures are only really there for diagnostics and comparitive/relative analysis, not to judge power figures.

Hello, as someone that knows very little about dyno's it should be common knowledge that the following factors have a major influence on what the dyno spits out...

a. the way the car has been clamped down on the rollers

b. Tyres used....

c. accurate speed reading (i.e working out what correction factor to key in to match roller speed to road speed)

d. As someone mentioned earlier entering accurate values for temp, pressure, etc...

I think any modifications done to a car can only be quantified by doing back to back dyno runs, its only then that ur comparing apples with apples... I can't wait to get my first skyline!! Cheers. :P

FMIC will reduce response...the air need to travel longer distance..it sounds nicer after the FMIC, sound better=== makes you feel go faster

I didn't do dyno testing but my 0-100 speed gone slightly slower after the pod filter and the FMIC..measured using apexi RSM...

nuffsaid: If you need another point of reference, I can PM/e-mail/post here you a copy of my dyno sheet (don't have an electronic copy here at work with me), it's more or less the same level of mods as yours.

Gorgasm: from what it says here http://www.cesracing.com.au/Products/ it looks like 45rwkw on a stock S15 except for their full exhaust and pod filter. Maybe they respond better to exhaust mods coz perhaps their stock piping is very restrictive, and the R34 not as much. Maybe they didnt mention the other mods

Elushun: its a manual

Satanic: really? coz I saw a HPI DVD with a stock manual GTT, pulled 148rwkw.

ZXFIRE: Yeah the claims were for a R32, but seeing as a R34 has more power, I wouldve though that the gain would be more if anything. note: I have the split dump and that huge cat that flows at 706cfm.

There is a member on here R34GTX (S2 R34GTT sedan auto) whose only mod is a FULL CES exhaust which cost a small fortune...and during the SAU dyno night achieved 177kw atw from a Dyno that was apparently reading a bit low too. I, on the other hand S1 R34GTT sedan auto with only an apexi catback and panel filter got 147kw atw. I wouldn't worry too much about your figure as it is pretty respectable for only exhaust mods. :action-smiley-069:
