mastadd
Owners of the fastest Nissans in Australia have challenged RB30 VL Commodore drivers to the ultimate drag strip showdown at the 2006 Nissan Drag Challenge at Calder Park on Saturday March 25, 2006. For the first time event organizers have opened the previously all-Nissan event to VL Commodores as well, though they believe the Nissan-bodied vehicles will leave the Holdens well and truly floundering in their tyre smoke. The 8sec R32 GT-R Skyline of Keir Wilson from South Australia's Wilall Racing Team and the super-fast AVO Turboworld GT-R lead the Nissan charge, while the Commodore Kings Bresciani Racing will be out to prove yet again that they have the fastest and quickest Nissan Street VL in the country Racing costs $55; spectator entry is $20. justin911
how does the hole bracket thing work... ? if my car is 13 secs id be racing against other 13 second people ? if thats the case wouldnt people cheat and run there cars slower, so theyd be racing against slower cars and winning thus getting more runs in ? im just curious how it all works Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/106654-nissan-datsun-drags-sat-25-march/#findComment-2013196 Share on other sites
krzysiu
One skill is to be able to set the most accurate bracket time as you can. If your cars entering bracket time is 13.00 and you run a time quicker than that you lose the race. Thats why in bracket races you see some cars brake in the end to make sure they dont go any quicker. Z1LLA
GTRGeoff, Take it somewhere else, got nothing positive to add to this thread then don't reply. LTHLRB, Yes you just turn up on the day and enter like a normal Friday night Calder meet. Justin911, Yeah if you enter the 13-second bracket you'll be racing against other 13 second cars. Some people might do what you have suggested, the only other way around that is to do Dial Your Own racing, but I was outvoted on running that type of elimination for this event. There is a 2/3 hour test session before eliminations so that people can get a good idea of what their car will run. GTRgeoff
Why so pi55y Ben? Last I looked this is the SAU forum and not NDSOC and I don't recall us advertising our events on your pages. Actually here's something real positive SAU VIC DRAG DAY Any other upcoming events for Skylines Australia - Victoria can be found Here!! SAU Vic has been described as more a social club......with cars involved so enjoyment is almost guaranteed. cazz
GTRGeoff, if SAU wanted to advertise their events on the NDSOC Website, they would be most welcome. Last time I looked, SAU Vic don't do many motorsport events, and this thread was added here for those in all clubs who would like to participate in a highly publicised drag event. It is put here in the interests of all enthusiasts, not as competition for the SAU Vic Club. I don;t understand your comment about SAU being a social club with cars involved, that is exactly what the NDSOC drag day is about, a social event with cars involved !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Snowman
Geoff - please stop being a dick. If you don't want to go don't go. Don't express your views on behalf of the club. Unless you want to come take over my job then you can express to your hearts content. I reckon I might even come along to this event and see if I can get that 11. It seems this drag racing thing is something I need to learn to do better incase I find myself needing to do it again one day. Ben - what happens is so far my best time is a 12.0? Do i get to nominate for the 12.00-12.99 bracket?? R31Nismoid
You allowing passenger runs? That way i can show this snowflake how to drive lol. And Snow - with 12.00 you'd be WINNAR SUPREME Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/106654-nissan-datsun-drags-sat-25-march/#findComment-2016681 Share on other sites

Z1LLA
Why so pissy? Because while I am a (committee) member of NDSOC, I'm also strongly considering joining SAU as well so that I can get more out of my GT-R with fellow Skyline nuts. I didn't realise there was some sort of rivalry between the clubs?? Unfortunately I can't read about the Heathcote day SAU are holding at the moment, but it does sound interesting. Snowman, if I were you I'd pick the 12-12.99 bracket, seeing as you are right on the edge, making it harder for other cars to beat you in that bracket (including me with my two cars ). Maybe you can try and dip into the 11s during practice, then during eliminations back off a little at the end to ensure you stay above 12.00. Its up to you however. R31 Nismoids last comment would be pretty accurate R31Nismoid, unfortunately no passenger runs as its at Calder Thank you Edited March 14, 2006 by thebuzz Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/106654-nissan-datsun-drags-sat-25-march/#findComment-2016876 Share on other sites

Z1LLA
yeah I know, you would also get it with DYO to an extent (people backing off). I would have gone with DYO for an event that will have a lot of street cars, but when you get outvoted what can you do?
