Thanks, should be a great day, going to race both of my cars!

Thorough Dissapointment I must say. Crowds were weak, consisted of heaps of bogans shouting out get a V8 (funny, at a Nissan/datsun day too) track was not prepped earlier in the day.

Biggest Waste of $20 bucks - I can remmeber last years one at heathcote was 500 times better.

Small crowd, heat etc. Kier Wilsons/Rajabs/Brecianis cars were the only decent things I seen going.

Yes it was unfortunate that Kier's car blew an engine on the second pass. Brescani's just packed up after that and I left when that happened.

I agree on the bogan element, but you can't control that.

The $20 proved very steep for the quality of competition. Most of the bracket competitors were 15 Second+ cars. A friday night meeting cost's less with far more depth of competitors.

It's a risk putting an even like this on and focussing on a small cross section of vehicles. Hopefully lessons will be learnt.

The event needed to be run with far more "crispness" - starting at 6pm instead of 5pm with no explanation to a paying crowd is not good PR and will not encourage a return visit at the next event. Not staging cars in the pit lane for next bracket wasted a lot of time when there were only 3 or 4 cars in some brackets.

Please take this as constructive feedback as that is what it's intention is.

Regards

Andrew

ps. The food prices at Calder are getting just plain rediculous. $3.80 for a 600ml Pepsi, a people say Bank's are bleeding people dry... :O

Unfortunatly it seams calder still cannot run a drag event, this is very sad, altho the heat was a large issue, the events management at calder ( the same people who run friday night drags) just were not interested. very sad. all i can say wait till later in the year wen the ndsoc will be back at heathcote!

man

Ive stopped going to calder on friday nights. Its a shit track, run by bogans, costs an arm and a leg, it seriously reminds me of a big rubbish tip out near the airport...... do I have to go on.

Other states, I know in particular, Perth and Sydneys drag strips are like 5 star hotels compared to calder.

If you wanna do something about it, simple, dont go and race. A huge proportion of my customers who have drag cars dont even sight calder. Heathcote may be 3 hours away, but its a better atmosphere and people enjoy going there.

Yep, I agree. I was at Heathcote today with my 2 kids (5 yr old and 3 yr old), they loved it. Atmosphere was good, playground to play with and can view the cars up and close.

I must admit, Heathcote is much better for the spectator and racer, you can nearly touch the cars. But its been proven, Calder is a faster track by at least 0.2 of a second. Must be something to do with the air altitutude at Heathcote

    • Update 2: Today I'm f**king pissed. Some of you probably saw my thread that I opened shortly after joining this forum, "urgently need expert/experienced opinion", in which I discussed the possibility of a porous RB26 engine block which I also found hard to believe. Currently both turbos are out since the shitty braided line that was installed by whoever fitted the GT28 turbos leaked oil onto the exhaust. Today while working on the cam covers to put new gaskets and half moons in, I cleaned the side of the engine block with brake cleaner. Some time later I saw that it was still glistening with oil or coolant so I dried that off. But it was wet again shortly after. Verdict: I'm royally screwed. What you can see here (hopefully, despite shit resolution), circled in red, is a crack above the turbo oil feed. Extent is a few cm long and basically goes from #3 cylinder wall to #4 cylinder wall. It slowly lets coolant through, even without any pressure behind it. I am absolutely dumbfounded as to how this crack even formed, especially since it isn't along the cylinder as it usually is but rather a horizontal crack. Probably a few cm in length. Not sure on how to deal with this issue right now. Most likely, the only true fix is a new engine block, and even a relatively well done temporary fix requires at least a full engine teardown. Neither of those really fit my timetable right now, the car has been in my buddy's garage long enough as it is. I'm open to suggestions, but I'll be looking into ordering a new 05U block soon so I have one ready for the coming year, or whenever the current block inevitably fails fully. (Most likely once the crack reaches one of the frost plugs) I think it'd be a waste of money and time to rebuild the engine with this block. Oh and I found a rust hole on the side pocket of the trunk, which someone covered up with sealant goop, a piece of number plate and bodywork filler. Fun times. So far for every issue we fix we just find a new one that is arguably worse.
    • I have not found this no. I put one back on a couple days ago with no drama. I agree they are tight, but no need to remove anything.
    • That is gates blue racing belt
    • Anyone found gates blue racing to be extremely tight/ almost impossible to install without moving the exhaust gear
