Oil + Water Temp. Sensors

here's a quick one for you guys... where have people found is the best place to install water and oil temp. sensors on an rb25... obviously the water temp. sensor could be installed in the stock ones location but the oil temp. where to put it?

please help before I do something silly and start drilling into the sump

The sump is the best place, if you don't have an oil cooler and/or remote filter. They usually have threaded holes for the pressure and temp fittings. The sump has to be removed to weld on the fitting for the temp sensor.

ah thanks SK... think I might shell out for an oil cooler ... the thought of taking off the sump, tapping and welding it sounds like way too much work!

i am in a similar sort of position with the oil temp someone mentioned a while ago about getting an adapter plate that you screw onto where your oil filters goes on wouldnt this give a more acurrate reading of your temps than the bottom of the sump ???

only trouble is i have not been able to find this adapter plate

If you did the right alterations to an oil cooler adapter it could work ie without the cooler though they are a good idea .

Exactly. It's a plate that goes on the bottom of the oil filter. Just Jap sell it for $30.00 (no plug intended)

hmm i had a look on there site do they actually have it listed there... if i dont find it soon i might give them a buzz cheers for that

problem solved... made up an adapter out of a brass block so now the oil pressure and oil temp sensors are housed in the same location... although I can't take credit for it as it was all the mechanics idea! (hope it works he he)
