Howdy guys - quick update

I spoke to Grant at Noltec again today. These kits were "supposed" to be in last friday. I then had a phone call late friday, to which they told me Monday at the latest.

Now i rang just then, and they said they have over 40 sets they are STILL waiting on from the laminators, so they havent got any still...

He will be sending them overnight to me as soon as he sees them, and we are on top of the order list. He didnt give me any date, but id assume they would be very soon.

Basically were only being held up by production delays atm, sorry guys. Noltec do realise they are stuffing us around now, and are sorry about this.

I hope we can get these in this week, but i'll keep u all updated as best i can.

i just realised it's been nearly 2 months since i paid and i came in to this thing half way through! i'm sure lots of dudes had paid up before me. good thing I didnt hoe into it and rip out the old bushes lol. ah well we live and learn...

yer i know, its been 4 months since i started, and i havent even got a set for myself (which is why i started this in the first place)

Production delays are farked, but if i only ordered a few sets, it wouldve been over weeks ago. As it is, once i opened payments, it took a month for the first 5 people to pay, which i then contacted Noltec to place the order, who we all have been waiting on for about 3 weeks now.

I cant do anything about it now, but in future GB's, i will state there will be a delay in getting all monies in, to ordering (if they have all stock in) , then for me to get it out.

Delays are a part of this gb crud...

Delays are always part of saving money in my experience. If you want something quickly, pay the RRP; if you want to save, be prepared to wait :D

You've kept us updated throughout the process, and frankly I think that's more important than anything else; I don't care about delays as long as I have updates now and again to let me know how things stand.

All in all, I think you've done your part :P

Fantastic work :D

don't know if I've given you a delivery address, but when they're ready to send out can i get you to send them directly to the shop where the car is?

will PM you the address

Thanks mate :)

this is begininng to frustrate me. now 9 weeks since i got in on this thing. is anything happening? it seems these guys couldnt organise a root in a brothel.

Tell me about it. I got an email today saying funds have cleared, and are being shipped, so i wont expect them to be hear till monday if thats the case.

I certainly wont be dealing with Noltec again now, so sorry guys who wanted other kits for their car. Customer service is below what id call satisfactory.

Sounds similiar to the problem I had with Bosch sourcing Z32 AFM's.

At first.. yeahh no problems.. we can supply what ever you want.. The more the better. Around 30 Z32's? Yeahh 30 32's is no problems.

Waiting for the group buy to progress.... I receive a call...

"Oh sorry there's been problems when moving the manufacturing plant from japan to germany that has caused back orders... There's no way we can supply 30. Lots of 5 once a month no problems, or if you wish we believe we will be able to supply what you are after by such and such month"

That month comes

"oh no we can't supply, next month will be fine"

Next month comes around

"next month.. we are getting there"

Now they are certian August is the month they will be able to supply what I want. I doubt it...

There is one good thing that has came out of this... I am able to get lots of 2 AFM's damn cheap. As cheap as the group buy price; but I won't, I will wait.

    • Hey, it's a GT-R, it's just as significant a moment as mine😁 It's not ideal when things are uncertain; I'm the type of person that always has a set plan for things in life so being unsure of this plan puts me in a weird place mentally.
    • Hows your intake piping? Are you still running stock? Having in the stock AFM position would mean, if the BOV was shut/venting out, it'd create the almost stalling kind of effect right // "the rich pulse behaviour" due to MAF thinking air is flowing ? But this would be better than having the bov in the stock position + MAF on/just before cross over piping right?
    • Essentially, yes. Although I wouldn't put the AFM on the crossover pipe. I'd want to put it into what amounts to the correct size tube, which is more easily done in the intercooler pipework. I bought a mount tube for card style AFM that replaces the stock AFM - although being a cheap AliExpress knockoff, it had no flange and I had to make and weld my own. But it is the same length and diameter as the stock RB AFM, goes on my airbox, etc etc. I don't have a sick enough rig to warrant anything different, and the swap will take 5 minutes (when I finally get around to it and the injectors & the dyno tune).
    • So to summarise, the best thing to do is to move recirc to between turbo and IC, and maf on the crossover pipe. Meaning I'd need a recirc flange, drill a hole in the piping on turbo outlet area. And drill hole on crossover to fit/weld maf sensor? Either that or put the MAF on the turbo inlet right?  Is an aftermarket recirc/blowoff valve recommended? Do currently have family in Japan so could probably bring something back with maybe a cheeky lil SuperAutobacs run?
    • Yep, so far most have said that it looks like corrosion on the wall from piston not moving. Which then has probably damaged the oil rings and caused those vertical marks. The longest the engine was still after the rebuild, was the winter of 2018 - 2019, plus the boat trip to Japan. When I shipped the car, it had normal gas in the tank but before that winter pause, it had E85 in tank.  In any case, even if either one of those was the cause, it happened close to 6 years ago and the car has been driven something like 30 000kms after the fact. Again, apart from the plugs and the dip stick, there is nothing in the way the car runs that would indicate what has been going on in the engine. I am going to consult a shop and ask their opinion, what would be the best approach. I do have some access to a garage I could use to diagnose further myself, but time is very restrictive. Might end up buying another engine that could be used while this one is being remedied. Without pulling the head, it will be impossible to find out if it needs another bore, but here's to hoping a hone would suffice.  Goddamnit, I would really have preferred this not happening.
