With the new built RB25 engine are you changing any of the bolt ons like turbo etc? Also I gather this is more of a drag car then track why did you stick with the RB25 instead of building a RB30 which imo would be better suited to drag only

well really just personal Perference

The rb30 doesnt rev bla bla bla

And the Fact that you carnt run the VCT oil pressure as im Experiementing with this on my ecu

I pefer to keep it all Skyline Minus the Box 2 which is a 2 speed powerglide now and the only reason why i went to the two speed is the Way the transbrake releases doesnt get the wheels in a tyre shake causing wheel spin like the 3 ,4 speed boxes caused by the High 1`st gear.

Isn't the R31 RB30 power classed as a skyline?

As you can see this Cylinder Was the Problem As its the One that lost Comp

No 6

And you blew the head gasket on 5 too.

Plus the pistons in the above photos do look sus. sure they have carbon build up which is normal but what about the marks on the inlet side?

The bottom end is on the floor still together if someone wants to come pull it apart for me

Seeing everyone can say im sus and they dont even know what the Difference is between a Forged and Cast piston is or looks like

Like i said Come pull it apart if you want i dont care im stick of this already

SUSSS ....pfffttt

And how can you tell me the no 5 Was low on comp too

I did a COMP test to Test them out to see which one had the problem and it was NO 6

no other Cylinders

good work mate sounds like the slanging matches are starting from the keyboard mechanics again. didnt u know they are all expert tuners.... in there dreams??? :) number 5 exhuast valves and spark plug do look pretty off colour compared to the others though.

im just wondering why u would go for a n1 oil pump on an engine u said is rated for 1200hp??? i thought the n1 oil pumps were rated to no where near that?

im not having a go like all these other members im just wondering thats all...

thanks

Nah its ok

The 1200 hp motor is another Engine from Japan

This engine is the other engine i had for this car

the 1200 hp engine is for my Chassis car im building

And how can you tell me the no 5 Was low on comp too

Hey mate don't get me wrong. I agree with you. The pistons are cast. I just noticed the marks and wondered what it may have been caused by. I went back and read the whole thread and realized what all this crap is about. I say good on you.

People tell me nearly every day, why bother with an RB20? I am making 260rwkw outta mine and there is definately more to come...everyone discounts them and says "Why not just put in an RB25 and make some real power?" Well screw that, easy way out.

Good on you and all you have done. Keep doing it and shove it in people's faces.

And R31NISMOID.....You keep going on about reliability? WTF You of all people I didn't think I would have to say this....read the topic title!

He has made no claim to reliability but seems to me you are almost eating your words....look how long it has lasted. Now maybe people won't be so scared to crack 300rwkw on their 25.

well said :)

people always focus on the negatives rather than saying good on ya for trying. its more like "its gonna blow in 2 minutes, or why not just get a 26" is the usual comments. i notice the ones slaggin him in the first page havent come on and said f**k all now :)

wait wait its been 24hrs since you've posted a pic or quoted your power figure, are you feeling sick? :D

It's like commodore and falcon drivers.....they only get cut and abuse you because you hand their arse to them without even trying.

Half the people on here can pull their head in. The whole point of this thread was to see the maximum hp that could be made out of the RB25 before it went pop. Any disbelievers were invited to pay for a stripdown. There is no harm in doing research like this if you have the money and time. I'd get an attitude too if every second know-it-all put his 2 cents in about crap that didn't even relate to the topic's title. Or people who only comment because they are scared of what they don't know.

So 4 percent more fuel for no 6, the extra heat in that area would be my concern, as to my noobie thinking it has affected no 5 as well?

yeah rusted valve and plug tip would most likely indicate a water leak on that cylinder. There is also some discolouration on the gaskets mating surface between the bore and water jacket.

Mate all i gotta say is Thankyou

And yeah it did last over 7 months or so and for a $1500 engine im sure i carnt complain. My other engine is almost ready just putting the manifolds and so on hopefully can start running it in 2morrow Night and have it ready for Wenesday if not hopefully Sat if im Allowed to Enter if its not to late or next wenesday worst case

That engine should at least run 100 WRHP more with the Cams,More Boost & c16 and make more torque.Im hoping anyway as long as its making around 620 WRHP with nitrous i dont care as that should run Low 9`s

You sir, are turning into someone who makes more ill informed posts by the day

After all the Motor Has been through i can say that it is possible to Make 470 RWHP safely on a Street RB25 Standard motor and make it last on Pump Fuel.

So if he busted a motor running 470rwhp

Without modifying the tune i have made 477 WRHP with the auto on just 18 psi Boost

Before the auto i was making on average 500 RWHP on 18 psi of boost on pump fuel

How can the claim be made that its reliable? I simply dont accept that, and i would hate for someone else to think that its ok, and then cost themself a motor they didnt allow for.

I think you are the person who needs to eat his your words, considering they are ill informed.

I suggest you stop trying to discredit me and focus on learning something, as there is a plenty.

Full credit to Jason, its been an interesting thread and the car has done a lot on a stock motor.

But i dont believe the reliablity claims that were, and are being made as to date, all thats proven is it cant be done.

The only reason why something went wrong is i tried pumping more boost into it

if i left it it would of lasted it went fine till now until that

    • Very decent bit of kit. Definitely black it out I reckon.
    • Because people who want that are buying euros. The people with the money to buy the aftermarket heads and blocks aren’t interested in efficiency or making -7 power, they’re making well over 1,000hp and pretty much only drive them at full throttle  best way to way make money is know your customer base and what they want and don’t spend money making things they don’t want.
    • It's not, but it does feel like a bit of a missed opportunity regardless. For example, what if the cylinder head was redesigned to fit a GDI fuel system? It's worth like two full points of compression ratio when looking at modern GDI turbo vs PFI turbo. I'm pretty reliably surprised at how much less turbo it takes to make similar power out of a modern engine vs something like an RB26. Something with roughly the same dimensions as a -7 on an S55 is making absolutely silly power numbers compared to an RB26. I know there's a ton of power loss from things like high tension rings, high viscosity oil, clutch fan, AWD standby loss, etc but it's something like 700 whp in an F80 M3 vs 400 whp in an R33 GTR. The stock TF035HL4W turbos in an F80 M3 are really rather dinky little things and that's enough to get 400 whp at 18 psi. This just seems unwise no? I thought the general approach is if you aren't knock limited the MFB50 should be held constant through the RPM range. So more timing with RPM, but less timing with more cylinder filling. A VE-based table should accordingly inverse the VE curve of the engine.
    • I've seen tunes from big name workshops with cars making in excess of 700kW and one thing that stood out to me, is that noone is bothering with torque management. Everyone is throwing in as much timing as the motor can take for a pull. Sure that yields pretty numbers on a dyno, but it's not keeping these motors together for more than a few squirts down the straight without blowing coolant or head gaskets. If tuners, paid a bit more attention and took timing out in the mid range, managed boost a bit better, you'll probably see less motors grenading. Not to name names, or anything like that, but I've seen a tune, from a pretty wild GT-R from a big name tuner and I was but perplexed on the amount of timing jammed into it. You would have expected a quite a bit less timing at peak torque versus near the limiter, but there was literally 3 degrees of difference. Sure you want to make as much as possible throughout the RPM range, but why? At the expense of blowing motors? Anyhow I think we've gone off topic enough once again lol.
    • Because that’s not what any of them are building these heads or blocks for. It’s to hold over over 1000hp at the wheels without breaking and none of that stuff is required to make power
