Hi guys

Some of your superior wisdom needed for this uk r33 owner.

I have a t04e turbo ar50 (ext gated) and an hks cast manifold to fit to my 33gtst but understand that the compressor housing fouls on the engine mount, if true how do you guys get over this problem. Do you use nismo mounts or aftermarket fabricated ones or cut the sh*t out of the original lol.

Any advice appreciated

cheers craig

Someone please reply with first hand experience, I want to do a similar job witha TO4e on an R33 GTS-t, using the same manifold. What turbo did HKS intend this cast manifold to be used for when it was new, anyone know? I also have an RB26 version of this same manifold, anyone have this and know *FOR A FACT* what turbo clears OK on an R33 GTR? Cheers.

Really need some pics to make the problem obvious to all . That TO4E of yours , if its using a TO4 hot side the housings tend to move the centre line of the turbo away from the manifold and I imagine closer to the engine mount . If you look closely at HKS's GT30 style turbine housings the mounting flange extention is very short (if you equate housings to snails I mean the bit where he'd stick his head out if he was born in a foundry) and the turbine outlet smaller and more compact that TO4 housings .

That manifold would have been intended for GT3037's , GT3040's and GT3240's though if the external gate mount was blank plated a 2530 or any T3 flanged turbo may fit .

Cheers A .

Yeah, need some pics of it all and how it sits.

I think the HKS one sits higher then the GTS-R... but pics will tell that story.

I had a GT30 .7A/R covered turbo low mounted using a GTS-R manifold on the RB25, and thats inclusing squeezing an 45mm turbosmart ext gate down there aswell.

I was very damn close to the engine mount (comp cover), but there was just enough room

Then once the gate was put in... no room ;)

Thanks for he replies guys. As far as i know it was a kit sold to suit the rb20/25 ,don't know if the mounts on a rb20 are any different. Will try and get some pics from a guy who test fitted one and told me of the problem.

cheers

I fitted a t300s low mount hks kit to my rb25 r32. It required some minor mangling of the engine mount (it's an rb20 mount though). However i have also seen a t04e mounted on an rb20 that only required the removal of the sheet metal piece from between the top of the rubber mount and the bottom of the engine mount (if that makes any sense?) The comp cover of the t04e is a .50 from memory and is a fair bit smaller.

The r33 uses a different mount to the 32 and appears to be a bit thinner and they mount flat at the base which should put them well away from the compressor inlet on a t04e kit.

Ive added a pic of the t300s and the slightly bent r32 engine mount to show how close it is but in all honesty i dont think you will have a major problem with fitting the t04e, also considering it is only a 2.5 inlet as opposed to the 4 inch on mine.

dont mean to hi jack this thread but ive just bought one of these hks low mount manifolds and i intend fitting it to a r33 rb25 with gt30 , a/r 70 comp compressor cover with rb25 internal wastegate exhaust housing am i going to have problems clearing engine mount as well????

I suspect, short of someone fitting this EXACT same turbo, that you will have to offer it up and see. i am becoming resigned to doing the same myself, and maybe having to make a new engine mount that clears it.
