JeeTeeEss25Tee, good to meet you, and thnaks for coming off at my corner, I got to say "send in the rescuers we have a beached whale"

Once again the difference between road tyres and semis/slicks was shown, they seem to be worth a heap of time at Oran Park, all the quickest sau cars were on....

CHEATER TYRES :(

Ok so this is a bit late but anyway... most fun day ever!

Even though I got the slowest time I at least know why so I can improve next time. Might do some driver training courses before the next track day though so I can learn all about the apex and driving line stuff. Regardless I had the best fun ever, the highlight of the day was definitely when I tried to drift round a corner and ended up coming off the track because I had no idea what I was doing. And there is a picture of it! Yay! Thanks silver arrowz..my dad laughed at me when he saw those pictures :)

I really hate that stupid corner that Duncan was on in the morning I almost came off every time I went round it and I did come off at one point which was really fun. I wish I had driven a bit harder and come off a few more times because it was soooooooooooo fun losing control of the car.

Anyway here is my long list of thanks for the day

Thanks to Abo Bob and anyone else who did all the organising and also the flag marshalls for volunteering their time.

Thanks to Shaun for taking me in his GTR at the start and coming with me and giving me tips and stuff.

Thanks to Ben and Paul for being so nice when that stupid incident happened at the start of the day and giving me advice on how to drive on the track.

And thanks to Wil for organising all my car stuff beforehand and then checking my car during the day. :(

When's the next track day??? :)

Hi guys,

Just thought I would log on here to say hi.

I am glad you all had a good day out at Oran Park on Saturday. We from RENEW are certainly glad that you all enjoyed it.

The pre-event time did run a bit over, but that was caused by a lot of cars turning up ar scrutineering towards the end of time allocated, and also a bit of getting used to the processes that are required to be followed on a CAMS day, as opposed to other days that RENEW have held at Wakefield that some of you may have attended. Part of this was also having such a large number of trainee and first time officials that had to briefed, signed on, etc.

As stated earlier, the limit for the number of cars on the track is 10. This is a CAMS set limit for Oran Park. Wakefield, for example is set at eight.

The afternoon ran a lot more smoothly.

Thanks to Adam for liasing with RENEW, and for doing all of the organising from SAU. Also, a huge thanks to those guys who volunteered for the flag marshalling positions. You guys hepled make the day possible. Susan, the Clerk of Course, was certainly impressed with you all, and was most humoured by the banter on the radio during the day. ;)

Personally, I was loving the flame throwing Skyline and the Silvia. And the Capri, of course.

We hope we will see all of you guys who were there on Saturday, plus a few others, at our up coming RENEW days at Wakefield - July 2 and Eastern Creek - October 8.

Cheers,

Craig :D

Yep big Thanks Duncan and Adam and all for putting your time and effort it. Duncan must be painful just watching.

I found out why I had so much rear wheel spin. I thought maybe the tyres were off but found my tyre pressure gauge was faulty and was reading 5 psi lower than actual so I had way too much tyre pressure.

Paul L 29th sounds the go. I am adrenalin junky. You and I need to go to Motorsports anonymous, along with Benm and probably a few others. My wife and kids are starting to wonder.

    • Last year I got a set of MCA street coilovers for my turbo Forester after my son hitting a concrete gutter/wall on a small bridge causing the whole drivers side suspension to get bent because the rain just made the car slide out I love them, I think they were $2400. even had a hiccup of have the wrong hub configuration (my fault) so got onto MCA and they sent the correct shock ends overnight parts from QLD, for free!  I was very impressed with their customer service and quality of the product
    • They've had some weird failures on their brake actuators. One of them was because they added some kind of lubricant to the factory fill brake fluid that aftermarket brake fluid didn't have so it would affect the seals. Another was just mysterious, probably internal corrosion or something eating away at Prius brake actuators. Parts alone for those are a few thousand USD so not a cheap fix.

    • KYBs are typically twin tube, putting them in the lower tier of desireability. Do you just want to replace worn out ones for the lowest cost? I mean, you wouldn't just replace one end of a car, if the rears are a similar age to the fronts, then they are probably nowhere near what they should be, and likely won't be great against brand new fronts. So, to spend ~$800 on 2nd tier dampers, when you could get a decent set of MCA coilovers for <$4k.....? As to the strut tops. 1st up, the Sparesbox site specifically tells you that they are not correct for an R33. Beyond that, why do you think you need them?
