It was announced (on Nova news) that the Gold Coast, Logan and Redcliffe are Hoon territories and that the new hoon drives a turbo car with subwoofer.

The first road rule change announced today was double demerit points for speed 20ks over the limit.

Dang i work in all those places (so forced to travel there frequently) :D + drive turbo car + have subwoofer :(

so this is across the board?? not like a temporary initative (like they do in holidays in some states issuing double points)??

Fair go for someone doing 80++ kph in a 60 zone but in a 100 zone i think the penalty would be too harsh IMO (as they'res many that do 120 on the M1 etc during the quiet periods of the day or in the fast lane)

I have no subwoofer............

I stand by the fact that when they cannot find the cause of an accident they blame speed.

As Dick Johnson has said MANY times (and I highly agree with him from having a drag racing background) that EDUCATION is the solution, or a very large part there of.

Oh and double demerit points, more revenue raising cause I am sure they will double the fine to go with it!!!

The amount the Govt raises from fines could easily fund education facilities and training, but instead it seems it better spent elsewhere.

Also on a side note, it costs more to bury someone than educate them to drive!!!

Add to the fact that alot of people no longer have the respect or common courtesy on our roads and you have a recipe for disaster...not only that but the lack of respect extends, though I dare to the tools in Cronulla...

Oh and this malarchy still has to go through parliament...

well i got done last year doing 112km/h in an 80km/h zone. that is 32km/h over the limit. and when i was doing this speed i though that it was a 100 zone. so if this rule was in at the time, i would have lost my licence for a mistake i made. its really not going to solve anything, just more ppl without licences, its not gonna make ppl do the speed limit is it.....

I couldn't of said it better, here here!

i just heard on the news, that the doule demerit points will be for repeat offenders. so if u get caught twice u will cop double, which i think in fair enough. bcoz i know since i got caught, ive been alot more careful, its just always in the back of your mind, and u tend to watch your speed more.

I saw that on the news just before and fell of my bike"excercise".

LOL, WTF, "beattie" bleated on about getting the 1% hard nut. I find this is amusing as "hard nut" and so call hoon would take 1 day to work out where all the fix cameras are and avoid the areas, but the joe blo average mums and dad will be punish for driving in condition that they are comfortable with, althought "illegal" in the eyes of the "govt." people who have orchestrate legalised stealling

Also notice how no public feedback was accumulated and not even a whisper of better driver education or better road.

I'm counting the day until the next state election.

And the road less... Not having a go at you, but its logic. Eyes not on the road when they are on the speedo.

yeah, im always looking at the speedo every 30sec or so to make sure im not speeding up or anything. i cant relax much anymore, im too worried when im behind the wheel. its so easy to speed with out even thinking of it.

A recent correspondent called "Custer" complains that speed cameras are a "tax on wheels". This irresponsible attitude makes me very angry indeed. If I had my way there would be thousands of speed cameras all over the country. There are far too many racers like Mr. "Custer" on the roads causing accidents. If fining them doesn't slow them down, then jail them! I would put a penny on Income Tax and build more prisons to keep these racers off the roads. Not namby-pamby prisons with colour TV, good food, education and leisure facilities, but bread and water diet, and rock breaking prisons. The resulting decrease in accidents and claims would bring down insurance premiums and offset the increase in Income Tax. It would also create employment building and operating the prisons. Two birds with one stone I think!

Whoever that quote comes from needs a huge smack in the head from reality.

After further reflection I am still quite angry...

The minimalistic approach to "cost" items like improved roads and education is sickening at the very least.

Seems the focus on the Beattie government is "revenue" items will cause people to better handle unexpected situations and conditions on our roads.

I too am counting the days until the next election, Mr Beattie your days are numbered you incompetant fwit, the main things that you proclaimed being able to fix, transport and hospitals, and all you have done is f it up more.

On a side note your son definitely follows in his father footsteps...

Yeah but what can we do about it? Once the other side get in, they'll be just as bad, if not worse, in this aspect possibly not the others (eg hospitals et al).

They give us stupid forums like this:

But even if we did go, all they would do is push the fact that they reckon more speed camera's and bigger fines will fix everything, meanwhile in the real world it doesnt and the road toll rises!

If people cant read and write properly, they are offered education to help them, why should driving be any different?!?!?

    • Stock equivalent turbo replacement is a bit of a nightmare. The old Hitachi ceramic things were pretty good for their time, but they have primitive, vintage aerodynamics. The only thing they have going for them is a light turbine**, and there are plenty of other light turbine options these days, in both materials and CNC manufacturing methods. So, the old stocker makes absolutely no power at all compared to its physical size and its (not very low) boost threshold and response. ** and the ONLY thing that was good about the ceramic turbine was that it was light. In all other respects it is a nightmare. To get a turbo that is anywhere near equivalent in terms of power capacity (ie, to avoid it being "bigger" and needing tuning/fuelling/etc) you have to physically downsize. And that is not a "stockish" replacement. Doesn't just fit where the old one did. At least a frame size down, probably need a new dump, probably need new inlet and outlet piping made on the compressor side, new hose connections as D said above. I say, if you have to suffer that much work, you might as well do the same work to fit an even bigger (than stock) turbo, have more power (and hence have to do injectors, ECU, etc), and love life, instead of suffering with stock power levels. Or, you get a light highflow from someone like Hypergear. A highflow that has not been pushed too far from stock. There are still modification consequences here though. HG's cores are smaller than the massive Hitachi core, so it is shorter, moves the compressor housing backwards and requires mods to the air side piping. Plus new hoses. Looks stock, mostly fits where the stock one did (with the previous caveats mentioned), makes a bit more power but can be run at stock boost levels and not cause too many ECU problems. But, seriously. It's 2024. Like - 25 years since the R33 came out. It's time to put an ECU in it. I Nistuned my car (on RB20 ECU then later again on the Neo ECU) and it was the single best thing possible for minimal money. Dial out the R&R bullshit, fix up the fuelling and timing to make it more efficient for normal driving (cut fuel consumption by >10%). Nistune is not an option for you unless you change the ECU, so you might as well just do a standalone. it will be worth it. And then you can tune it up to the limits of the injectors and AFM, which is pushing 200rwkW and enjoy some actual squirt, instead of the lazy barge-like motion you get from a stock engine, turbo and management.

    • Welcome James.....will be interesting to see how much fun there is in the project. .....where's the pics?
    • Your profile doesn't say where you are, but you can get your current turbo rebuilt by any competent turbo shop, places like Precision Turbos or GCG They can replace the core with a modern ball bearing unit and should be able to source same or slightly larger wheels to fit in you housing. Note if you change the core you may need new oil and water lines too
