if we could get the exact same thing going as they have in teh thread for the stagea's then its perfect! ie inner colour, outer clour, stiching colour, nissan logo...

hey guys just let u no im getting my front, rear seat , front, back door trims, handbrake and gear shifter all done for $900 black with red stiching and fitted

post up some pics once its done, I'm interested in doing it too if it turns out nice

wtf - more affordable???? A normal leather seat retrim is $4k-$10k .... I think these things are an absolute bargain at $400. If he would just do some fronts for me for a bit cheap I'd take them in a snap.

haha r u serious? 4 to 10 grand for leather seats.......where????

ive paid like 1200 for a suade hoodlining, pillars, door inserts, gear stick and handbrake boots, and full leather seats

Then you bought the mega cheap stuff mate (or we MASSIVELY get shafted here in Adelaide) .... I have been to several reputable places here in SA and for any sort of decent leather retrim for the things you are talking would be almost $10k. I was quoted $6k for just my seats, door inserts and steering wheel, at one place using top quality Italian leather. The guy was talking about 30 hours labour @ $70 per hour for a start - you paid half of that amount with no material, which is the major costs involved.

On that front, can anyone buy coloured cows at a decent price? I might grab a large piece of leather if I can find one at the right price, and get seat by seat done, one at a time.

nah mate i got the real thing, my mate works for precise trimming up here on the gold coast, i think its just more likley that your getting ripped off man. dont get me wrong i got looked after and did sum of the work myself but still to get your whole interior done ud be lookin at 6 grand, not 6 for just the seats!!!!

I was speaking with a trimmer down here in Melbourne who use to trim hotties and all show cars for the last 18 years, he said if you got Lamborghini grade hide it would be around 3k a square meter (I think by memory) thats with absolutely no blemishes or marks on it. Also said, better off going for the Bmw grade leather, his cost for this on front and rear seats, door trims and boots would be way under 4k. Aparantley theres a good distributor in port melbourne.

If I paid 10k for a reco'd interior just on leather without remoulded dash, carpets etc etc.. mate, it would want to be able to give mad blowy's too.

i just went down to the factory where they make these leatherette seat covers in melbourne and had a look and spoke to the guy who makes them

they seem pretty genuine so i bought a set of front/rears in ivory colour including the wrinkly style and nissan logo and handbrake cover made for the r32 delivered to brisbane for 680 ;) get them in about a week too!

will post pics when i have them in :P

    • To be fair passengers who aren't silly and have been in proper fast cars have often been pretty impressed once you hit 4th gear
    • I suppose that's true. Barring almost any situation, I'll never sell so what the market does is kind of irrelevant to me. It's possible I'd make most of my money back. That spreadsheet I mentioned? Maybe I could make back more than what the car's total costs thus far are, but the parts and all that is possibly a different story... Thanks for reading. It was certainly a good moment and just makes the ties to the car that much stronger. It's exciting that the option will be there to bring it over, however I have some plans with a shop that may end up keeping the car there longer, not sure. Coupled with the fact I want to move there and haven't solidified any path yet. So in a way, it feels like I'm in a limbo state that is uncertain; time will tell.
    • No worries, everything worked out in the end. I just wanted to make the point that it doesn't matter where it comes from (I.E Australia), it can be broken or improperly built. I would still purchase from these companies in the future. B2R - Not certain how that finished, this was on a car I wired a few things and street tuned. I know the owner ended up shipping the motor back to Australia for investigation. Hopefully some of it is covered under warranty.  Turbosmart - I always pressure test everything that goes on my car. It's a habit from my career in oil and gas. I run two 40mm's and both had major leaks from the actuator to exhaust portion through the shaft. I returned both, they shipped me back two and one was leaking and the other had a 38mm top (40mm gate with 38mm actuator cap, no idea how that happens). Eventually after a lot of back and forth I found myself with two non-leaking gates. I believe this happens a lot more then people would like to believe but you would never know if you don't pressure test them prior to installation. Crank Motorsport - Issued a full refund and let me keep the seat rails. I turned them into scrap metal for other projects. GKTech - Shipped me out a replacement and asked that I modify it as per my idea and that they would do the same for a future revision. ATP - Can just needed a large shim to bolt up properly.  Haltech - They started an actual proper Beta channel for firmware's a few months back and stopped using the general public for testing. I'm now much happier.  Speedtek - f**k Speedtek. I would love to watch them burn.
    • I've got a Turbosmart wastegate, ATP catch can, many GK Tech parts and Haltech everything. Everything's been perfect, sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same
