Hello everyone,

I am looking to buy some front splits for a friends R33 SerII, I have ringing Audio stores and they tell me that the Skyline has a very slim speaker bay. Is this true. And also, what is the stock speaker size that comes in the front door. I am buying these speakers as a surprise for my mate so i can't ask him directly.

Also, I am looking at the $500 range. I have Like the FOCALs very much but have also been recommended MB Quartz and ALPINE.

If I do go with the Focals must I go with the 165 V Slim?? or can i go with the regular model, the 165KP (Kevlar Cone).

Your opinions are much valued. I hope to hear from ppl who have heard 'em or used 'em and installed speakers into there R33 SerII (or other rides).

Thanks Folks

sif they are slim.

any 6inch should be able to fit. if you take the door trim off theres a reasonable amount of space and the standard speakers are 6inch anyways. dont make the mistake of getting 6 and a half inchs like i did lolz. coz you will have to get 6inchs instead.

Thanks for ur reply,

when I say slim i mean the depth of the bay. In other words the magnet has to be slim. This is not true??

Cheers

no the magnet doesnt have to be slim, theres heaps of room in the doors, plus the magnets on 6inch speakers are not big,

your have no prob at all fitting 6inch speakers

Pull the doortrim off, then pull the speaker pod out.

Take that down to an audio place and see what will fit. Like everyone said, anything should fit. I put $200 worth of Clarion splits in, and they are 6.5", and it was perfect.

They even came with some rings for the speakers... one of those rings was round on the inside, and hex-shaped on the outside. It fitted perfectly into the pod-shape. =-]

thats bs...

I got soundstream egc's in there, the magnet is huge like a mofo.. no dramas, doesn't hit the window when down...

go for focals, good amp & sound deaden + wave breaker mats....
