Where To Get Compression/leakdown Tests Done?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase a Skyline that's for sale on the Gold Coast, and was wondering if anyone new of a performance workshop that would do these tests without to much fuss?

I'm aware of the usual's in Brisbane but not familiar with any GC workshops, and don't want to drive all the way to somewhere like Mercury.

Thanks for any info?...

you dont need a performance workshop to do a compression test or a leakdown test

i had mine done by garry at garrys supertune in southport, but any competent mechanic will be able to perform these tests for you, infact it would be a plus to have a licenced mechanic look at your car which some "performance" workshops dont always have,

otherwise if your really wantin the best, take it to gavin woods

Was thinkin of Gavin Woods, but was under the impression he's always booked out?

Thanks for the name, I should be able to pick up most defects, but engine is best left to someone who knows.

Did you get both tests done or just the compression?

Do you think both are a necessity

ive had both done over time, when bought my car i didnt have the luxury of doing the tests as i bought from auction.

but in the past when things have gone wrong and i needed to know the health of the engine i had them done,

leakdown test can show up things that a compression test wont as far as i know. i would definatly get the leakdown test done, i know for a fact that gary has the gear to do the test as hes done it on my car.
