_8OO5TED_
Yes but.... have any of them made a claim? What was the outcome? Also how do you decide if a mod caused an accident or not.. like.. ok I'm trying to think of a quick example.. Say you boost it onto the freeway, are not going over the speed limit.. and like in melbourne there is a really gay entrance to one of the freeways where everyone is trying to enter in two ADDED lanes and everyone else is trying to move to the left lanes to exit not too far up.. heaps of times trucks almost run me off the road because they dont look when they merge left... say I swerved to avoid a truck, lost it, ran into a pole.. say I had an upgraded turbo but no upgraded brakes.. you could possibly argue that if I had upgraded the brakes I might have been able to stop? I don't know, I'm sure someone else can think of a better example. The point is, it would be easy for an insurance company to find a million reasons to reject a claim and even Shannons has in it PDS that it only covers legal modifications.. You know I still haven't heard one story about someone who's had an accident and had heaps of illegal mods and got a payout.. OK well I will use myself as an example, my car is fitted with non-permit and illegal mods yet I got paid out when my car was written off.... No mods to blame, purely driver error... Its quite simple, if we cant PROVE that the 'illegal' mod was the reason for the claim, then it should be paid out. Using your brake query as an example, proving that by not upgrading them caused you to hit someone is VERY HARD to prove, so most likely pay you out if all mods on the car were noted. Its a very touchy issue, but atleast an insurer like Shannons wont write off the claim straight away like your regular insurers who hate to deal with imports, may.... [WLDCRD]
actually the legal limt is 90db for cars after 1983. before that its 96db. I have had 2 full epa tests done now at Macleod. I have had the car about 18 months but has effectively seen 5 months road time. First test stock exhaust got 90db 2nd time it got 89db (they have to round down). As for things like turbos, if you got low mounts you should be fine cos they wont really be able to see it. Using R34 N1's is good cos it looks like a stock turbo (bar a few different things like writing on the housings). The obvious things you will have to change though. So if you modify it yourself, keep the original parts like i have. Things like injectors, air box, ecu, exhaust.... Comes in handy!
