I picked up my car from customs yesterday and whilst going through the car, I found this (see two attached pics) in the glovebox. There is a single button on the top and on the side is a small rectangular piece which I think is metal not plastic. Does anyone have idea what it is? I have checked the 3V battery in it and it's not flat but when I press the button, nothing happens in or around the car.

I know the Series 2 came with a (rather crappy) factory alarm option. Would it be for this or an immobilisor?

I had one of these on my SII, it operated the central locking, i think it's a dearler fit option as opposed to the factory fitted one. it was separate to the key

not sure if it has an alarm or immobilser

if you have the central locking acuators already in the doors, a new alarm can be wired to them
