I am about to buy some lowered springs for my R33, but i would like to keep my camber as close to stock as possible as i cant afford to let 18inch tyres wear to unevenly. Is the r33 able to have camber adjustments with the factory suspension components? If not what is the cheapest (not an adjustable racing camber kit) way to keep say 0 or -1degrees or whaterver it is from factory of camber?

If i am only getting 1.5inch lowered springs will i need matched shocks or will the stock ones be ok and not bottom out? I am planning on getting some good adjustable shocks eventually as i would like to do some track days but would like to leave it untill i can really afford them.

Im not interested in a set of coil overs, the ride is way to harsh.

if ur only lowering 1.5" u probably wouldnt even see a great difference in camber.

i lowered mine 2.5" when i first got my car and camber still wasnt too bad so u should be fine with only 1.5" lower.

BTW ive since lowered mine another 1.5" all round so it sits dam low. theres bout -3 camber on the rear. hehe

You should never drop the car too far, i think for a skyline 2inches is maximum. The reason for this is that your suspension geometry is designed around the standard ride height and any MAJOR deviation will mean your car doesnt handle aswell.

Mine was previously lowered by the original owner by 2.5inches with a change of springs. I was always scrubbing out the tyres and in the end the rear shocks shat themselves. Since then i paid just under $2k for a full set of bilsteins on all 4 corners with height adjustment. Now it is lowered 1.5inches below standard and i can corner heaps harder than with the setup i bought it with originally.

I have Teins all round and they are almost on the stops....my camber was %$#@& up to hell as a result. It was not possible to adjust back to a respectable camber/castor with the factory setup, so I had the local gurus do the biz (they chopped and added blah blah blah)......for almost $600. Much better now.

Get a couple of different quotes and views....Pedders would be a good start.....they don't want or need a bad name by doing bodgy work.

dood i think you will be fine with only 1.5"

if it is like king springs or something that is very off the shelf they will not be designed to mess things up too badly

i got 2.5" lowered springs on my 33 and i lose about 2cm of tyre in the guards and the camber looks like those old school bmw's dropped on they ass es its bad and i am gonna get it looked at shortly or i might raise it back up....but it looks so PHAT

and I dont race in it so hard cornering etc is a non issue

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
