i believe caz is on sau under same username...she'll probably be able to offer same deal to sau people (on the off chance she wont, cant be hard to sign up on ns.com, although it might make you feel dirty). you need a serial interface, not usb

i've downloaded the software and i think i will try the setup using the cable from caz ($130) coupled to a "USB A female to mini USB male" adaptor (can be had for AUS$5 + postage on ebay)

as its an O2 XDAII mini, the only cable input i have is mini USB at the bottom of the device (www.see02.com)

if this doesn't work then i've no idea how to connect it!

here's to hoping it works on my PDA, and i'll be one very happy man who will definately donate something to the author of the software

cheers,

Warren

no! i said you need serial consult interface! the chips used in the usb interface dont have drivers for pocket pc. serial will be cheaper, see the link i posted up top of this page, $100 delivered for the serial version.

if you get the usb version you will not be able to use it on your pda, only your laptop.

if there is no way to connect serial device to your pda, then you can get a FTDI chipped usb-serial adaptor - it has drivers for pocket pc. so even if you are to use a usb connection to your pda, you still need the serial interface. if your PDA has a host usb port (can you, for example, plug in a usb keyboard/mouse etc?) then you can probably use a ftdi usb-serial converter. you can probably borrow a ftdi usb-serial converter i made to test it out (ill need it back though) if it works, then i can either make you one, or find a place for you to get one.

ok so..

consult to serial cable from caz ($100)

then

null moden and seral sync cable? or just serial sync cable? (available from ebay i unerstand..)

seriously man, think of it as if i know nothing and then try to explain it to me..!

i cant guarantee itll work, but you most likely need this (if i was in your situation id just buy these and find out, serial sync and null modem dont cost much)

your o2 xda II pda (check!)

xda 2 serial sync (here)

null modem (here)

serial consult interface (here)

nissan consult capable car! (lets hope ur r32 wasnt manufactured before nov 89...)

should work on windows mobile 2003 (a lot better than it will on earlier versions :whistling: ) - just follow install instructions, youll need the .net compact framework etc.

good luck!

the above order is also how u connect it up. ie pda->serial sync->null modem->serial consult interface->car's consult plug in fuse box area

you may want to buy this from the same ebay seller (combine postage):

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/USB-SYNC-CHARGER-KI...oQQcmdZViewItem

so u have a car charger for it.

Edited by NewKleer

already have a cig lighter car charger :whistling:

ok i have a new issue

seeing as i have a 92 r32, i just assumed i could find the consult plug

however, coldn't find anything hanging under the dash.

Where would it be if it wasn't hanging?

I assume nissan wouldn't just hang the plug down. rather plug it in to something when its not being used..

does someone have a close-up of the plug?

cheers,

Warren (computer-illiterate idiot)

for those others outside of the know-how, here is a terrible pic of the fuse box that i took with my PDA whilst holding a small torch.

the consult plug sits attached to the top left corner of the fuse box

(this is on an R32 GTSt)

Hey Guys, I am happy to supply the serial ecu interface cables you need for NewKleers PDA software, you dont need to sign up to NS.com! hahaha

$100 posted anywhere in Australia....[email protected] email me for acct details if you wish to order.

I'll put an add in the for sale section too and NewKleer...hows about putting a link in your cable kit add that isnt happenning now so people can find what they need to get your software happenning.

Would your software work with my ecuXtend cables NewKleer ??? They are lots simpler and supply power to my PDA too.

Its great to see this all unfolding, exciting stuff

Cheers Caz.. :P

yeh ill stick a link there for anyone who finds there way to the old diy kit group buy thread.

not sure about how the ecuxtend cables are setup - main issue being im not sure how the shift light thing is connected. cant hurt, just try it and see.

This may seem like a silly question, and it probably has been answered before, but despite checking out computer errors, clearing them and seeing realtime sensor outputs, does the software you're making allow for any manipulation of the computer software? (I don't even know if it's possible) IE: I've heard of people being able to open certain valves etc to see if they're working properly...

Thanks for any info, this looks like an awesome product!

thats known as "active tests" and currently i dont have support for any in the software, but its on the feature list (on the site) which ill hopefully get around to doing at some point
