Hey guys im about to go to a drag strip and was wondering what sort of time i should be getting around roughly.

Healthy running Auto rb25det motor, ecr33 series 1 coupe, with 255rears and 235 fronts

Mods:

Apexi pod cai

3" exhaust with split dump

hybrid fmic

turbotech boost tap @ 9-10 psi

im thinking the wheels will slow me down as theyre so big, but would help traction as well, what do ppl launch their autos at?and how (hold the brake down and rev????)

im hoping to crack a 13 (high) pass???any chance, hasnt been tuned yet, would increasing the boost for the run help of not??

the bigger the better i say

16"s with 225 on my auto 2L spun half the track

from a 3500-4000rpm launch, 1 foot on the brake & other on the gas

15.1 stock except exhaust and pod

i now have 18" 265's so ill be heading out to WSID soon to see if it spins again.

p.s the bigger the wheel the more terminal velocity you will have when picking up speed down the track. i.e slower off the mark, but more top end speed.

he said he had an auto box so he won't have a pfc :P

i would probably look at getting some form of piggy back ecu and getting it installed/tuned, then taking it down the strip. or even just get a dyno run with the increased boost just to make sure the AFR are ok before blasting it down the track all night.

i think a mid 14 is more likely.

why is the auto slower than the manual counterpart????, i feel my bottom end is really good, its the top end which feels very flat to me????, why is this??i would've thought it the other way around?is this a factory turbo thing, or cause it hasn't been tuned.

Btw im thinking of getting an safcII and have it tuned, instead of going manual/power fc just jet.

p.s my dump pipe will be installed coming monday, will this prove gains in my top end, my 1st and 2nd gear feel good, after 3 it's losing power im sure of it heheh

Just thinking of what to do now....

just to let everyone know i ran 14.3 with 185rwhp.. with no top end (rb25det with rb20 turbo it would drop off boost after 5000rpm) -(car(r33) had exhuast (catback and front pipe no dump) airfilter, clutch)

so i think 13's is very doable with ur current setup :(

lol you wish. 300hp on stock turbo at 12psi is never going to happen.

not sure of the psi lvl but i know of a few rb25det running stock turbos getting close to if not hitting 300rwhp

ive got an rb25 (auto) with:

FMIC

Pod + heat sheild

hi flo cat

3" exhaust cat back

and on stock tyres, 6psi boost and no real launch i ran a 14.7, with decent launch i got 14.5...

i got my boost controller this 2days back and im getting proper tyres

front 235/40 and rear 265/40

now with 10psi n decent tyres i will run a 14 flat with no dramas im guessing, but we will c in a few weeks, so its not impossible

well rough idea for you i am geting 13.4's with 265 35 18" rims, gtst 33 200+rwkw constant wheel spin in first, WSID is a slippery track. Next run i am getting some 16" rims with 225 65 slicks, should break into the 12's. Also i have no camber kit, which is giving me lots of neg camber (not much tread in a straight line but lots a round corners)

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
