why would you buy an expensive car without full comp insurance?

the stupidity of it boggles my mind.

nothing personal mate.

Yes mate I know, I have called myself stupid and many other names as well!

I definitly have learnt my lesson!

But I must say what has pissed me off the most was not the $30,000 plus grand some individials have stolen from me.......

But the fact that this original GTR was the last of it series (apart from the rear spoiler), it had 67 klm (and it looked and drove like it).

But most of all it was a beautiful motor car that some smart japanese created to be driven by enthusiast like us!

NOT to be stripped and cut up for money hungry, evil people!

I dread my car being stolen everytime I leave it outside while I am at a mates house or out on the town (never take it out on the town anyway) or when its outside my house while I sleep...

I have had motorbikes stolen from my garage so I know how it feels but not to the extent of $30k....

And now I always have my car in a locked garage.

I recently have discovered the young 22 yo guy who installed my "state of art alarm"was of middle eastern background.

I was also told by a toe truck driver mate their is a gang of middle eastern background, in the melbourne area stealing jap imports cars for a living. He rekons my car is in cambellfeild being dismembered!

Whats the chances my installer made a copy of the key while my car was in their workshop getting my $3,600 worth of DVD/TV/CD and blaunput amp with MB speakers, including bluetooth handsfree then waited a few weeks and then paid my street a visit with his mates?

Sad if its true..... :P

sorry about ur car mate....... your installer sounds dodgy to me !! have u reported to the police ??

I dont see a problem with alarms if they are installed well. They prevent many cars from being stolen. i dont see how someone could get into your car without triggering your alarm. I would be really suspicious of the guys who did the installation. sounds very dodgy. good luck getting it back.

Really bad news for you

I hope they find the S O B's who did this and recover your car.

As advice I would suggest to others, that apart from an alarm and immobiliser (done by two independent companies) consider also putting in a 'kill switch'

Any competent auto electrician can do this.

Maybe we can even put a 'sticky' somewhere on the forums that explains the basic process -without detailing locations

probably the two most important things are:

1. full comp insurance

2. garage, if they dont know your car is there, they cant steal it.

alarm comes after those and is mainly usefull when parked in public places where only the most brazen thief would be willing to spend the time disabling it in full view.

campbellfield ha? hmmm i live in campbellfield im on the road alot and i havent seen or heard of any GTR parts up for sale. But il keep an ear out for ya but out of curiousity of all the suburbs in melb why would the towie mention campbellfield? Its kinda sad broady and campbellfield have this rep that its HOT car central i dont understand

Thanks very much everyone for your support and good wishes.

Good luck to all of you with your fantastic cars and futures.

Here are some pictures of what my car looked like after I installed my 19s.

Also i have added 2 pictures of my alarm remote with an extract of the users guide.

I rang up the Directed distributer here in melboure and he assured me that according to the sysmbols left on the remote the alarm was deactivated using the "valet" feature.

In order to use this feature you need a copy of the original key.

The way it works is you enter the vehicle, the alarm start sounding then you turn the ignition on and press the valet buttom between 1-5 times depending on what the installer programs it to.

The valet button is also the l.e.d which flashes red indicating the alarm being active. In my case I asked to install it on a pop out plastic peice the size of a 50c on the dash.

So the valet button is not concealed under the dash!!!!

The intresting and suspisious thing was my installer never told me that this was a feature of the alarm.

Had i been aware of how easy it was to drive of with my car I would have taken aprropiate measure's.

I wonder if I have a leagal case?

I bought the vehicle from a 40 yo guy who lived in ivanhoe, top bloke! Unfortunatly he was fighting cancer for 9 years and wasnt sure how much longer he had. So he had no use for 2 cars. His other car was a 911.

Does anyone know how hard or easy it would be to turn the ignition on without a key and how long would it take?

Thanks again everyonepost-25326-1141043184.jpgpost-25326-1141043377.jpgpost-6290-1123002234.jpgpost-25326-1141043772.jpg[attachm

Did the workshop that installed the alarm have your address?

Or would they of needed to follow you?

I live 4 blocks from the alarm installer. And yes they knew were i lived because they asked me and stupid me I told them.

NO Alarm heard = they probably had a copy of the key and remote's

Bumer mate- good luck!

You dont need a remote. I have just discovered that all you do in the event you loose your remote, is turn the ignition on and press the "Valet" button between 1-5 times (depending on what you request) and presto!!!! The car starts as if it was your own!!

The suspicious thing is I was never told of this feature?

Thanks for your response.

Nick

Sad to hear about this mate, I hope you can recover your car ASAP and the thieving Bastards get their balls chopped off

Thanks mate.

whats with people stealing R32 GTR, seems the most popular these days...........remember, if you find the thief and want his hands chopped, I'm your man

Thanks for your help. You may be onto something there...... How can a theif steal without a hand?

I definitly will be voting for you next election!

Thanks mate!

Nick.

Sorry to hear about your car. It's very interesting that velet feature was used. :)

Another programmable feature on these alarms is a 'soft start' option. When a door is openned, the siren only chirps for a while, then starts to sound at full blast.

If you have the car key, know where the valet button is, the number of times you need to press it, you can disarm the Vipar alarm before the system fully triggers. No way could anyone fluke this procedure in the time frame before the siren starts fully. Strange you say your neihbours didn't hear anything???

Mate this is FKN horrible.

I would go to the police and explain to them what happened and how the car was taken.

Get the police to investigate and sue the crap outta those f**kers.

Please keep us updated I hope you get the gtr back.

I think i am going to start removing my ECU when parking my car.. i dread this happening to me infact i have nightmares that my car gets stolen and stripped for parts.. talk about paranoid but yeah I feel for you mate :D
