Can anyone tell me what this thing is in the picture (circled in red) and what it is connected to (circled in yellow)?

My mate's Automatic Skyline doesnt have that.

I want to mount my Oil catch can somewhere and i see most ppl mount theres in that position. Can someone tell me what it does or if it is needed anyways?

Thanks

but isnt the yellow circled object the charcoal canister??

its for emissions 'theevilworld'..i think it neutralises fuel vapours and carbon monoxide? that leak out during the combustive process. the epa and pits wouldnt be too happy if you removed the pollution gear out of the car

someone explain further

yeah its just doubling up.

all r33's ive seen just have the front most hose going straight down to the tank breather hose to the left.

if you dont want in just use a bit of hose in an L shape to remove the 2nd canister from the exquation.

I think the dead giveaway is the 'made in australia' on the rear charcoal canister.

If the stock canister wasn't considered suitable, it should have been replaced rather than plumbing a second canister inline. Not too sure I'd like a charcoal canister with petrol fumes in it sitting next to my turbo...

On R33's most compliance shops remove the japanese one and fit an ADR approved one in its place (which is larger than the japanese one). In this case it seems they've piggybacked it.

2 charcoal canisters are better than 1 I guess  but I dunno about their placement

the 2nd canister u mentioned, are you referring to the one near the turbo or the one closest to the radiator?

if you were referring to that one closest to the turbo, so basically what you have mentioned is that i just have to cut the hoses going to the caniseter next to the turbo and join them or something like that thus removing that 2nd canister for good. ? any help would be appreciated.
