has anyone on here used any other type of ems/ecu on their stag or does every one just autopilot toward an apexi unit?

some of the ems/ecu's in the hyperrev mags look like they would be a good replacement but i cant read japanese so dunno what would be involved?

anyone?????????

i am looking at maybe doin a complete computer swap if i could find a reasonably easily tuned (in australia) unit.

has anybody got any ideas?

Japs tend to use several tuning units but i think the most popular by far are the HKS F-Con V and Apexi PFC.

There are no good tuners for F-Cons in AUS so PFC's are the go really.

PFC's are full ECU replacement units, they are not piggy backs. You unplug the stock ecu, plug in the PFC, tune it and away you go. If you have a manual car, PFC's are just so easy to use, large availability of tuners and relativly cheap in the grand scheme of things.

Add to that the Sydneykid seal of approval and the use of a PFC by Brad in his spastic Rb26 Stag and that should be enough to seal the deal :)

There is 100% nothing to installing a PFC that is special. Its just that the base tune that comes with it isnt the best.

Heaps of people just put the PFC's in at home then drive easly to workshops to get them tuned.

I can see why they say "install and tune though" because really the install is nothing more than 3 bolts and 2 clips worth of work and it just makes sense to make it an entire package.

Must let us all know how your PFC install goes.

alex there are a few issues with the R34 powerfc that make it more complicated than simple plug and play. once the car is finished there will be some minor compromises and slight rewiring (hence the extra labour cost from UAS) however it will run the engine fine and as a sideline it seems that the ATESSA is not an issue. at least that is how it seems at this point.

we have run into some issues with other components so getting the car shaken down will take another week or so.

Hmmm, does anyone with FAST know if the plugs on the factory ECUs are available separately to the ECU unit itself, or are they listed as a complete unit?

And is anyone able to provide me with a copy of the FAST software, please?

thanks alex my rb26 is not spastic  i still havent installed the pfc yet, ive got all the wiring sorted but havent actually put it in as im still using the autronics smc at the moment, and ill be getting the initial power tune done with the Autronics for low boost and see how it goes.

i doubt the non-ecu plugs on the r34 harness will plug striaght into the non ecu plugs in the stagea which makes it fun to try and wire up (not to difficult with the wiring diagrams though)

which components are the issues with Andrew? and what are the compromises?

it plugs straight in as far as i know (so you don't need a new plug) but there is at least one pin which is taking a feed which is different to the R34 GT-t. i can't give you the exact pin/s but they spent some time trying to work around it.

at this point that is all i know but it seems that it will work and the next person that goes to them gets to reap the benefit.

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 馃槈. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 馃槏.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 馃檹 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 馃槈. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 馃槏 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
