Boxes To Suite Rb30 Motors

Hi all,

Just a few technical questions concerning gearboxes to fit rb30 motors. From what i can gather, r31 rb30 gearboxes are getting more and more expensive and harder to find. I have found that VL commodore boxes, ( called M7 's) will also fit ( using the VL's tailshaft ) to the skyline, but these boxes are even harder to find! The turbo VL box ( MX7 ) is impossible to find and usually retail around the $1000 mark.

Long story short, I wanted to know if R32 or R33 boxes will fit onto my rb30 motor ( Like bolt in, perhaps a tailshaft change ). I have found that r32 and r33 boxes are MUCH easier to find, just wanted to know if they are an easy fit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

r32 box yes, no mods required..

R33 box.. tailshaft requires mods.

They all have the same bellhousing pattern, so that is not an issue.

dude go on ebay at the moment and there are at least 3 rb30 reconded boxes off VL's for around $400 - im finding it harder to find a R32 box!

anyway basically from what i can gather - the n/a vl's rb30 box is identical to the r32 rb20det box EXCEPT that the rb20det has double synchros on 1st and 2nd.
