Factory Option R33 Front Bar Identification

I saw a gunmetal grey R33 at knox today with the number plate SAM-XXX with a quite unique, and very nice looking front bar. Unfortunately I don't have a camera phone so I couldn't take photos, but I will describe it in the hope that someone knows what I'm talking about.

Distinguishing features:

- One air vent on the LHS (presumably for intercooler)

- In the space were the air vent would be on the RHS, there is no vent, just a place perfectly sized for a Japanese number plate (number plate is side mounted)

- "SKYLINE" embossed in large letters in the centre of the bar, where the number plate would usually sit

- indicators pure orange (ie not the split type that look like they have a foglight in them as well)

My current theory is that it was a NISMO option

Does anyone have any idea what I'm on about???

I've researched this as best I can, even looking up old NISMO news items that date back to 1997 on the old Poweraxel site... but no luck.

Are you sure it isn't aftermarket?

The one in my avatar is the nissan factory option front bar..

however looking in nissan fast there was only the normal SII one and the one i've got from what I recall..

It is possible that it is aftermarket. I assumed it was genuine Nissan since SKYLINE was embossed in the perfect skyline font that we all know and love. I also figured that an aftermarket bar would not specifically cater for a side mounted intercooler over a front mount. It just had a factory look about it

But I guess it must be aftermarket. Hopefully I see the car again when I have a camera on me

I found a pic of the bar! see attached and also the ebay ad. The rear spoiler on the car is common to the car that i saw with this front bar originally, so maybe they were offered as a nismo option together
