now, dont get me wrong, i'm a ford man at heart, however i now own the skyline and ever since i got it, all of about 2 weeks ago now, i've noticed that ba xr drivers inparticular seem to have the same "my car goes good and i have to prove it" bogan type attitude that commodore drivers have. It's really quite sad.... am i the only one noticing this? have ford drivers always been like this and i've just never noticed it cos i too am a ford driver?

maybe cause they finally got a half decent car to race in now, rather than the banger v8s :O

they like the turbo plus still lookin like a family car  turbo is new technology to most of the owners haha, now they know what they been missing for sooo many years. :P

XR6 Turbos are bloody fast cars with loads of potential that is easily unlocked with a couple of basic modifications. Probably not the most suitable car for track work or cornering but they certainly go hard in a straight line. Only problem is that some people who own them are ego seeking maniacs who think there car is god lined up against anything else and hence where the "bogan commodore" stereotyping falls in line with them. :O And they always want to make sure people know that there car is potentially quick...

Your not the only one,

After some verbal abuse i was copping for no reason (i suspect it was daddies car been taken without daddy knowing) i simply stated "dude, look, its a real nice car. just a shame they dont come in mens."

That shut him up.

hey dont get me wrong, i'm not knocking the car, like i said i'm a ford man at heart, i know of the potential and if they had what i want at the price i was looking at, i'd have considered one, but the guys who drive them really do seem to be tossers.....

lol good call!

ive noticed it to... it mostly "look ive got a turbo in my boat" kinda thing  how much does a BA weigh compared to many other cars? 1.8tonne or so? they just like showing of there new toy.

What was the last turbo Aust car? the VL?

Cheers, its been used alot more than once

There must have been a more recent aussie car than vl that was turbo or at least had the option

They weigh a LOT, ford.com.au would have its "specs"

But i think your right on the money with the Boat comment :P

A lot of them are former commodore drivers

Yeah, same driver, different car = same result.

Only difference is now they've got some power to back up their attitude. Pity it's because of Japanese tech.

Im only new around here but im getting the impression that a lot of people dont seem to like much else that isnt a skyline. On the front page we have both a commodore drivers are bad and xr6t drivers are bad. Sorry to break it to you all but there are tossers in all camps, including and nissans and skylines.

Yeh...i tend to agree. Can imagine what others say about skyline drivers like ourselves. Works both ways. I do get the XR6-T want to drag thing, but i think everyone does it at a time.

Strangely enough I virtually never see people in XR6T's fanging about or looking to pick a race UNLESS it's little Ray Ray Jr. out for a "kruz" in daddy's Falcon.

Wait a few years when they become more affordable and watch them REALLY become the next VL Turbo.

I’ve encountered a lot of very bad and reckless import drivers, far more than commodore/ford drivers. Go to George St in Sydney on Fridays and Saturday night and you would know what I mean. Lots of dof dof, bling bling, loud exhaust, BOVs, guys hagging out the window, red light racing, and reckless driving. Its no wonder our insurance are so high.

Trawling through the main Ford and Holden forum, it seems that many of its members are more mature (not comparing to this forum) compared with some import forums. It also seems that there are some very fast rides, especially the turbo and twin turbo V8s. These topics with commo drivers = bogans and holdens/fords = slow is really getting tiresome and in most instances untrue. FYI I drive both an import and a commodore and know the pros and cons of both.

I think we should just accept that a wanker is a wanker no matter what type of car they have.

I couldnt give a flying f*** if they had a 600KW R32 GTR, if they act like a wanker they deserve to be treated like one too.

I also think in a couple years time the XR6T will take over the "Fulli Hektic" stereotype that alot of VL Turbos get.

i've got it, its true a wanker is a wanker, it doesnt matter what they drive, they are just attention seekers, who drive the"in" car at the time, to be more popular with whoever it is they think cares. I guess for a hell of a long time commodores have been "the in car" now ford have put together a nice package and they've been gettin alot of hype from everywhere, it seem they are fast becoming the next "in" car and thus are attracting the same attention seekers..... don't get me wrong, not all of either drivers are attention seekers, it's just the attention seekers who attract this type of attention....

    • That is correct. I'm using a modified ABS ring and a ZF speed sensor on my rear diff for speed input. I'm running a Haltech ecu.
    • Been busy with the newborn. We originally thought we were going to go for a third, but we're good with two lol. He's starting to actually sleep now so I've had some energy to work on the car. It's been parked away in the garage since late November due to winter.  I went ahead and redid all my head oil drains. I originally had my front and rear head drain going into the same pipe but have since split them up. I also added an Ethanol content sensor to get ready to run E85 this summer. Tossed it on my return line. Sensor sits nicely under my intake manifold.    I also have a lot of parts that came in for my rear end. I'll be swapping over to a 3.3 final drive and doing the GK teck anti squat mod. While the rear subframe is off, I'll also change every bushing. We're planning on buying another house soon with the condition that I get at a minimum a 2 door garage, so I'll wait to have more room for this. Now onto the strange things that recently happened... After changing the lower rad hose (It had been sitting in my cabinet for well over a year and was the last hose I had to replace), I let the car idle in the garage to bleed my coolant. After running for a few minutes, it started missing. Got much worst within a minute or two and then stalled and would not restart. My crank sensor decided to crap itself. No damage, no explanation, just died. I went ahead and replaced it with another ZF sensor but the heavier duty stainless model with a shield. Tossed that in and started right up. Has anyone else seen this? I hate when things fail without cause. Luckily this was a blessing in disguise... This lead me to recheck my timing. It seems I may have had a beer or two the last time I had set my TDC angle as I was off exactly 5 degrees... I miscounted a line haha. I was running 5 degrees less then commanded. It's a little embarrassing but helps explain why my dyno operator seemed to think I should be making more then 478rwkws.
    • Sharing results from recent Liberty Walk R35 GTR, since they are still considered as somesort of a V36 Skyline. We do them turbos too. This are high flowed SS-1 models with ball bearing conversion done.  Car have managed to pull 485awkws @ 20Psi so far pushing limitations of factory built engine. The build list for R35 GTR enthusiasts as follow : HyperGear high flowed stock turbos in SS1 (G25-660 specs) Custom titanium intake pipes. Vspec performance titanium front pipes. Vspec performance 4" titanium exhaust. Upgrade fuel pumps. 1200cc injectors. Ignition coilpacks Hks intake plenum. Hks intercooler piping. Greddy intercooler. Greddy bovs. Top-secret coolant reservoir. Emtron ecu. Straight E85. Built gear box.
    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
    • Brumbys with good shells are bloody expensive, I've looked at 2 "cheaper" cars, and walked away from both,  plus after some research spare parts are fairly sparce I'm starting to think that I missed the boat on finding a clean one that is straight (ish) and without alot rust I'm starting to think about a old Hilux as panels and other parts are much more available as they sold tens of thousands of them I use to be indecisive but now I'm not sure
