so what ecxactly isnt working? the skylines shouldnt have a factory fitted amp, otherwise it would be a bitch to replace speakers and decks. the unit you are probably talking about is either the wiper unit or a part of the 4WS but either way it has nothing to do with your system if it is factory fitted :D

Beg to differ eliter33. Most R32s I've seen have cylindrical amp under the centre of the parcel shelf. Mines a clarion. It has 11 small gauge wires to a single plug, 4 of which match the colours of the wires going to the rear speakers. I assume the other wires are 4 high level inputs, 12V, earth, remote.

If it's a round diecast thing it's the audio amplifier.

You got it to. :uh-huh: Mine was a Panasonic and now resides in the dumpmaster.

I just cut the speaker wires out of the plug and bypassed it all.

I'm tipping they use it to save running starter cable to the back speakers.

My R32 is a tarmac rally car so the sound system is purely a very secondary option

Thanks guys :D

I have a s1 R33 factory fitted with "Kenwood Cruising" system (premier dealer option) with a kenwood amp in the boot ( unfinished alloy casting). so I guess it depends on what box was ticked at the dealership as to what goodies may be in the boot.
