Hey,

I have found an r32 gtr that is in good condition and i am very happy with. but one problem, the oil pressure gauge didn't move when we drove it. Just wondering if this is a fault with the gauge or if it actually has no oil pressure. has anyone had any experiences with these cars having a faulty oil pressure gauge? it has white nismo aftermarket gauge fitted.

If the engine didn't have oil pressure, I'm sure it would be "dead" in next to no time.

Check the oil level on the dipstick. If it's OK, then it's likely the engine will have oil pressure.

It is (hopefully) a dead sender. Ordinarily, you should have quite high oil pressure when starting from cold.

Chances are it is a dodgy sender unit or gauge. Having said that you need to find out for sure. Get it checked by a mechanic with a proper gauge before you buy it. Remember a dead RB26 will cost a bundle of money to put right....

couldnt have put it better. yes it's probably for the gauge but you'd be a fool to buy it assuming the best case. take it to a mechanic and have them connect a mechanical pressure gauge so you can find out for sure.

ok turns out it was the sender unit, after putting on a manual gauge everything turned out ok. but while it was in the shop we had the change to take a good look under the car, and there appears to be a bit of oil underneath. too hard to tell exactly where its coming from, its around the area of the turbos. i know it must be hard to tell, but how bad does this sound? should i forget about this car?

It is not uncommon for there to be leaks on the seals of the oil lines that feed/return oil from the turbos. Not the end of the world by any means, but a bit of a pain to find and then fix.

im just trying to be sure before i buy it. i dont want to get it and find out theres a major problem thats gonna cost thousands to fix. i was ready to put my deposit on today but now im not sure. it drove really well, and looks all good condition. everything is original except for different brakes.
