Hey I took my car in to get a problem with ABS diagnosed (Light stays on permanently), this was their response:

"Scan ABS Module for fault codes. Code 21 - ABS Motor.

Checked ABS wheels sensors for operation, all ok on current data.

Suspected faulty ABS motor unit"

I am now in the process of buying a replacement motor. I was wondering if someone could help me identify it. I've attached a pic, is this the 'ABS motor' circled???

Thanks for your help.

ABS is driven by hydraulics. At the bottom of he ABS unit there is an electric (12 volt) motor that drives the hydraulic pump that makes the ABS work. No motor = no pumping = no ABS working.

My experience has been that it is cheaper (when labour is included) to buy a complete ABS unit. Check around the import wreckers for one and compare prices, they vary a lot.

:) cheers :P

Yeah what you have circled is the ABS, what you will find as with most modern systems is that it is the module (like computer) and also the hyraulic motor. Look forward to paying top dollar for one of these... it would be unwise to buy second hand because they are a precise peice of gear and internal clearances are extremely tight, so for peace of mind go new.. bummer.

Jeebuz christ! :geek:

Thats just crazy!

I've bought a second hand unit for $80, which i'll get installed and hopefully solve my problem. Failing that, i'll check out the relay that you're talking about.

Where abouts did you source the relay from?

i got that quote from Nissan in the brisbane area.. Cant remember which one cause i tried a few.

But yeah, the bloke at nissan did tell me to try an import parts place as they will be a lot cheaper... and they were right..

Anyway, i got my relay from rscomponents.com.au. They will have to order it from the UK. I did an exact search (from the info given on the relay) and that's what they provided me with.

hope it helps.

Sorry to bump and old thread..

But does anyone know if a 33 gtr abs unit till work in a gtst series 2?

If worst comes to worst, if nothing else works, then i will have to buy a new abs unit.. Im sure i wont have to.. Probably a dead sensor or relay etc. .

But just curious if a 33 gtr abs unit till work in mine

ta

Best thing to do would be to just purchase a ABS unit looking at the part number. When you mention 'GTR' to a wrecker, they'll just over charge. When I had to replace my unit, I just asked for an ABS unit for an R32 with 'X' part number.
